 Gathered together from the small towns and big cities of the midwest, the members of Rockhill have somehow managed to continue to enjoy making music together
for over 15 years. With two cd's under their belts, and one
on the way Rockhill, continues to create a solid product that only three singer/songwriters, who aren't afraid to speak their minds, can create.
"The band has bluesy, mid-'60s pop (the Animals, Sir Douglas Quintet) down cold," according to the Kansas City PITCH Magazine. The careers of the members of Rockhill span over two (2) decades with highlights such as MTV videos, CashBox top 40 hits, and performances with other major recording artists. Phil Neal--Phil is a Kansas City native who began his musical career by singing in his church choir in grade school. In his early professional years Phil was a well-known solo acoustic guitar player and singer, doing the rounds in the coffee shops and folk clubs of Kansas City and the surrounding college towns. This is where he met his longtime musical partner Gary Paredes. Phil's video for his regional hit single, "Standard Question", hit light rotation on MTV. Phil has opened for many major recording artists and is currently a founding member of Rockhill. Gary Paredes--Gary is a longtime fixture of the Kansas City music scene. He has played guitar for many local bands including Mike Ireland & Holler and currently plays lead guitar for Howard Iceberg & the Titanics as well as Rockhill. He has shared the stage with several major recording artists, opening for acts such as John Hiatt, John Prine, Dale Watson, Billy Joe Shaver, The Bottle Rockets, Robert Earl Keen, Norman Blake, Iris Dement, Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul, and many, many others.
Doug Osburn--Doug began his musical career playing drums in the Wichita, Kansas-based punk/jam rock band Scarlet Aces. After picking up the bass, he later joined blues/rock band Fahrenheit 451 and spent 6 years playing the Midwest college circuit before settling in Kansas City. Doug has played with many popular Midwestern acts including Kim Murphry & the Defenders, Brodie Buster, Deb Gurnius, Little B, and Rodina, and in the early '90s joined Phil Neal and Gary Paredes in the rock band PowerTies. As a founding member of Rockhill, Doug also currently plays bass with Kansas City folk legend Howard Iceberg & the Titanics.
Chuck Boyd--Chuck was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He started singing and playing drums in his early teens and several years later he started playing percussion. He was a member of some well known local groups such as Nation, Justice, Contraband, and others. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee in the early 90's, and started writing and recording with his wife and several other local groups. He has toured Canada and the United States. In the last year he relocated back to Kansas City and met up with his ROCKHILL friends. He has always loved writing songs and he is really enjoying this blend of original music with such seasoned and accomplished players.
