I'm an artist and primarily a photographer but in the early to mid 90's I was also experimenting with music. I didn't have much in the way of equipment to work with and nothing was digital- everything was recorded on cassette tapes using an old Fostex 4 track. These are four pieces from my original 4 track tapes.
If I'm inspired, I may get around to recording these pieces over again, adding vocals to "Running" and "Push". I recorded another song with vocals called "My last relaxing day" but I need to redo the vocal track before I upload it. When I do, it will probably replace "Pipe Organ Music".
"Bass Solo" was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe. It is dark, dreary, and grinding. It is more like an actual song in that it has a chorus. At some point I may add a vocal track where I am just reading some Poe in a low monotone. I have yet to decide which of Poe's poetry or prose to read.
"Push" has two completely different sets of lyrics. The first is a poem that I wrote separately while the second is a set of moody verses that I wrote while listening to the track itself. I'll probably go with the latter. Angry music is much more compelling.
"Running" is more like the score to a film. Much of the music I used to compose sounds more like movie soundtrack material than anything else. There were lyrics for this piece but I can't seem to find them at the moment. I haven't really decided what I want to do with this piece. I might just leave it as it is or rewrite the piano part.
"Pipe Organ Music" is exactly what it is- simply an experiment to write a piece of music that sounded like it was written for a pipe organ. including the bass line for the foot pedals. I know I should have written something dark and evil for the pipe organ but it was after all, an experiment.
