Ian's Interests
|
| General | Music, Film, Books, Sport, Travel,Playing guitar very badly. | | Music | Very Catholic - Matt Monro to Metallica.
Currently listening to a lot of blues - BB King, Howling Wolf, Buddy Guy, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, SRV, and thoroughly recommended - Martin Scorcese's Box Set 'The Blues'. Quite a bit of folk & country too : Richard Thompson (Repackaged and remastered at £5.00 on the back catalogue at HMV), KT Tunstall, Alison Krauss, Angie Palmer, John Smith, John Martyn, Bonnie Raitt, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Alan Jackson.
Also, Ray Le Montagne, The Dixie Chicks, The Finn Brothers & Crowded House (Neil Finn - one of the best songwriters of his generation).
From the Rock end of my collection : Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake (early days, when they were a bluesy rock band, rather than hair mousse & leg warmers FM 'cock rockers') Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Slade (often overlooked, but a great band of superb musicians) and a host of other 70's and 80's stuff.
Also - Motown,Stax and classic soul from the 70's : Al Green, Teddy P, Donny Hathaway.

Ian's Blurbs |
About me:
Until recently, I ran 'Roadworks' - a live music night in Altrincham, Cheshire featuring the best in Acoustic/Roots/Folk/Blues and Americana. Sadly, work commitments and falling attendences have forced me to suspend things until further notice. I am NOT booking any acts currently, but you are welcome to send a 'Friend' request and I'll gladly have a listen to your stuff.
Thanks to all who played during my tenure and to those who came out to see some quality live music.
|
Who I'd like to meet:
People who love music for the talent and hard work that's gone into it - not the haircuts.
Anyone who thinks X Factor et al are the spawn of the devil.
