This is a poem I wrote about Kailin, my main character in Lies in the Blood.
Darkness of Kailin

The darkness engulfs me throughout the night.
I hunt for the one to feed my blood lust.
He won't have a chance to put up a fight,
Because it is me that he thinks he can trust.
My shadow is the only one that knows the truth.
Watching me every moment of every day.
As I feed from this being to satisfy my immortal youth.
Never will I die and be left in the ground to lay.
Who would cry for me if in the darkness I faded.
There would be nothing but silence within my death.
Living a life that has left me so cold and jaded.
Having been a long time since I took a breath.
My prey and enemies come to me now for protection.
To stand against the very beings that I created.
I must save us all from the forbidden ressurection,
Before the world and its creatures are left desecrated.
The guardian, an unwilling hero of a story she never read.
The protector, forced into a life to which he was blind.
The traitor, knowing the truth of tomorrow that he dreads.
The savior, within her life forever without choice, entwined.
