Bayli's Interests
General
where i'm at...
I'm interested in many aspects of life including but not limited to:
computers, 3D modeling, web design
games(PC, board and lately even PS2), PCRPG
movies, sci-fi, fantasy,
cultures, books, drawing, nature, life animals, photography, anime, manga, european and a little bit of american comics too
technology, universe and space, science
and.. can't think of anymore currently but a lot more is there just waiting to be seen, heard and felt.
Music
My music taste is varying, I like listening to almost any genre, but the mainstream pop, rap, r&b etc. just give me a headache. Heavy metal, hard rock, rock, melodic music (from almost any genre), classical, jazz (the older type, modern jazz is sometimes.. noisy), gregorian, celtic, jpop & jrock etc. I also love to listen to any humorous songs that I come by like Weird Al, Turo's Hevi Gee (finnish correspondent to Al) and such when needing a kick in the behind to cheer me up.
I tend to listen heavy metal more than the others and to name a few bands (in no order) .. Metallica, System of a Down, Gammaray, Lordi (yay, we won the eurovision '06!), Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Avantasia, Moonsorrow (finnish folk death metal), Sentenced, Rammstein, In Flames, Iron Maiden (& Bruce Dickinson), Teräsbetoni, Tarot, The Gathering, Viikate, Hammerfall, Linking Park, NIN etc.
Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven, sometimes Sibelius too, Vagner to name some. I also like Rondo Veneziano.
One of my long time favorites has been Mike Oldfield, I guess I learnt to listen to him through my father, he's bought almost all of his records, but it's good, relaxing and highly recommended.
Movies
Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Tonari no Totoro, Spirited away.. etc. I really like Studio Ghibli's (Jiburi in japanese btw.) production. Old classics are Indiana Jones trilogy and Star Wars movies. There are also quite a few older comedies which are too numerous to mention (from 70's to 90's).. mm.. Alien quadrilogy, 2001 : Space Odyssei (read the book -> see the movie). Well that's some of them, haven't seen almost any new movies lately, and those that I have seen recently haven't been much neither this nor that, amusing but lacking something that keeps you into it. Maybe Tarantino's Kill Bill's were an exception, but they're not very recent.
Television
I like british comedy series, usually the older ones though Black Adder, Bertie and Wooster, One Foot in Grave and Mr. Bean (or rather Rowan atkinson and his works). Also german detective stories are interesting to watch like Der Alte, Derrick (has ended though), Ein fall für zwei, Lea Sommer etc. They have this certain good feel to them.
That is why I dislike most of the american TV shows (no offense), they lack creativity and seem to rely only on punchlines and funny events that are first mixed, chewed and then splurted out for the viewer. There are lots of famous TV series going on too like Lost, Deadwood and Rome and was it Carnivalé ? But while somewhat interesting, they tend to lack "the touch".
If mentioning anime and such is allowed.. Yukikaze, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bleach, Elfen Lied, Kenshin etc. But definite no to Dragonball series, Naruto, Pokémon and some other unbelievably popular series, since they're duller than wooden butterknife in a chisel factory. I mean it.. hundreds of episodes and nothing is happening.
Books
Right now I'm digging into "All Tomorrow's Parties" it seems to be quite interesting sci-fi book setting into future, can't tell the exact year though. Other books I'm in middle of reading are Orcs by Stan Nicholls and this Harry Potter... can't remember the name, just been too bored to read it to the end.
Lord of the Rings book I've owned since I was 5 years old (16 years ago) so that's one classic, as well as many of Arthur C. Clark's production. I'd be interested to get my hands into Isaac Asimov's Foundation "trilogy" and Tarkovsky's Stalker. Endymion series sounds interesting too.
While I'd love to finish the trilogy that Assasin's path began, alas I can't the books anywhere. Still haven't gotten time to check the library though.. might be there.
Heroes
Heroes? Can't think of any.. I guess some imaginary person. There are lots of people who earn my respect by their acts and such, so depending on a point of view heroes can be just normal people who have done a good job in something, against common expectations.
I've been using computers since kid, so I know a trick or two with range of operating systems and software. Most Windows versions and DOS. I've also built/repaired quite a few computers.
About me: Me? All vital statistics of me can be found from the profile, but then again there are stuff you might not know. Well, shortly put I'm cheerful and honest guy and I'm not currently dating. Not currently looking for anything or anyone.
I love joking and good humour. I like watching the world through pink filter and to believe that the world isn't a bad place to be if you don't give into pessimistic way of thinking. I seem to like languages and so far speak around 5 (including mother tongue) from fluent to basics. I also do karate when I have time, but lately haven't had thanks to my Japanese lessons.
I like to do a lots of things, reading, drawing, playing games (mainly PC some PS2 (no.. no GTA, I hate the series)), watching anime / movies, enjoying the nature, listening to music.
I'm not interested in people who are only after some singl primitive thing;I appreciate depth in the people I meet or talk with. If the person is just too tight-headedly refusing to take other points of views in to consideration, I always try to make them see the bigger view.. bad habit, sorry about it. *grin*
I might seem picky about who I talk to, but the fact is I don't usually talk if I don't have anything to talk about, if the other person is only into cars, only sex, only anime, only army only books person, it's hard for me to find common subjects. Why? Since they're dedicated to almost fanatistic levels in their hobby and start acting elitistic.. once again not applicable to all people... what the heck I'm blabbering about?
Oh well.. leave me a note and I'll answer. I don't usually hold high prejudices about people until they prove me wrong by their own actions. Yes, I know I'm not perfect being either, but I'm working very hard on not to go against my values.
Thanks.
I also enjoy photographing to some extent, enjoy:
Who I'd like to meet: Heh.. good question. A lot of people more or less. Top priority is my penpals around the world, though a distant wish it would be nice to see their faces at least once.
Then there's the group of celebrities that'd be fun to see and greet. From music field I can't really mention anyone in particular.. maybe Weird Al, he seems like a nice person, maybe Rowan Atkinson or such, the problem is I don't usually talk if I don't have anything to say, so it might get bit awkward.
Well.. You, most probably, if you seriously have something to say, go ahead and do it.
.. and if you think you know me. Think again. :D Not really, but try it out, shouldn't be too difficult.
