His career in music started at a young age as he toured with his grandparents who were members of the long-running southern gospel music group, The Edward Hicks Family. From that point on, Rex took advantage of every opportunity to perform.

As his passion grew into career aspirations, Rex moved to Nashville, TN where he has taken the stage at several famous musical sites including the world-renowned Blue Bird Café, Third & Lindsley, and 12th & Porter. Committed to giving back to his community, Rex has also been involved in many charity events and has performed at benefits for the National Guard and at the Outdoor Dreams Foundation.
