REMINDER: "Reminder" is a man whose real name is: Joshua Mikah Abrams. Calm, patient, quiet - and ever so eloquent... he maintains the motivation needed to play, record, and tour with over 10+ or more bands> Who knows? He's got this big fucking leather bound planner that looks like the Bible or something... When he busts it out, instead of reading scriptures of some sort, I realize he's checking his schedule and penciling me in somewhere between people and places, close and far away... In this music world, I consider him a hero and a heavyweight... Insanely talented and well rounded enough to adapt to any musical situation without intimidation. Even though he is known best for his bass playing, he's capable of so much more as you will soon notice when he drops his first collection of "beats" for the Eastern Developments music label early next year. Not just a funky 45 collection and a sampler but more of an intertwining of Joshua's musical capabilities within sampled landscapes = as he holds down a variety of instruments avoiding looped up monotony. From the first beat i heard ringing out of his MPC.. Straight rhythms, fucked up rhythms, no rhythms at all... C'mon, this dude played on the first "Roots" album and went on years later to lace up the beautiful bass lines on "Sam Prekop's" solo records. That's just me name calling some of my favorite shit he's done... I hope his diversity is recognised and i think he will win a Nobel Peace Prize (or maybe i'll draw one and give it to him.) The rest is just an adventure for you to take by listening to his new: "Reminder" record and by following his other projects, etc... Fresh air from a sound that is still growing - get to know his stilo...

I don't know if I said it already, but have a good time on the tour. I can imagine that you and Zerang make for a very "musical" (you know what I mean) rhythm section; contributing instead of just being there.
your set the other night at the silver mt. zion show was just amazing. It reminded me of some strange and beautiful amalgamation of brian eno/laraaji's ambient 3, ian williams from don caballero/battles, and crazy jazz fusion drumming.
Are you planning any other one-off's similar to that? I would love to have a recorded version of that.
Hey there...Just wondering if you have some fresh stuff cooking? I Need the next installment, my fix of Reminder beats. Summertime won't be as good without them. :)
