Music
I love and respect country, rock, jazz, blues, classical, etc. I have no respect for rap hating lyrics that put women and children in a negative light - or that promote hate and violence.
Movies
Tombstone, Crash, Ray (the movie about Ray Charles' life), Duets (believe it or not), and the Shawshank Redemption.
Television
I am a Law and Order FAN. I like most of the series spin-offs. However, CI was GREAT until they brought Chris Noth back. He was great in the older ones, but he can't hold a candle to Vincent D'Onofrio. Noth is a joke in that role.
Books
I like to read books on Lutheran Theology. I have found in my own personal studies that Lutheranism is God's word in it's purest form. If someone were to say, "what is a Lutheran" - I would have to respond by saying, "A Lutheran is someone who believes that the bible is the Word of God, every letter."
Heroes
I have heroes in the music business; George Jones, Randy Travis, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Ray Charles, Janie Fricke, Dwight Yoakam, etc.
I am 29 years old. I have two wonderful children, undeserving blessings of God. I lost my father nearly two years ago, (jan 29 2007) at the age of 51. This too, is a blessing. Our Lord God called him home; however, I miss him more than words could ever express. As I spoke about on my radio show, my father was my best friend. I look forward to seeing my friend and father again.
Are Some Men Born Gay? I did a short commentary on the subject in the video below. Let me know what you think.
I have met a great girl; her name is Michelle! She is a super mom and one special lady. She attends church with me at St Paul Lutheran Church (LCMS) on 21st and Kentucky Ave. in Paducah. I currently sit on the Board of Directors as the Evangelism Director. I am active in church and praise God for using me to accomplish His will.
Who I'd like to meet: I spent many years hosting my own radio show - and have met many big stars in past years; however, I can't think of anyone I'd really like to meet that is still living. I sometimes think it would be neat to go back in time to early days of the Grand Ole Opry and meet some of the legends who are no longer with us; such as, Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff, Hank Williams, Hank Snow, etc.
I love the old stuff! :--) I think Lefty Frizzell has to be one of my all time favorites. Along that same time period, others would include, Ernest Tubb, Jim Reeves, and Faron Young.
I think KT Oslin has one of the most beautiful female voices I have ever heard. Two of the most "hard-core" male/honky tonk voices (in my opinion of course) are Gary Gene Watson, and David Allen Coe.
Country music took a devestating turn in the 90s when Garth Brooks hit the scene. His music was commercially driven to attract the middle age male and female. Country music became more serious about the dollar than it had ever been. What we have on the radio today is just a byproduct. Don't hate the music, hate the industry -- it's sick.
