GeneralIf you're just trolling to get adds, don't bother, please. If you genuinely want to share music and your art, that's okay. However, if you do want me to add you, it's required that you check out the musicians on my top friends list. They deserve a listen, too. Also, for the most part, I won't add: rap hip-hop screamo/emo dj/dance/trance/mashup death metal suicide punk country Again, not because they're not valid musical styles, I just don't listen to that stuff.

   Don's Blurbs
About me:

I've been involved in music/recording for 30 years now... although I took a fairly lengthy hiatus from recording (I got sick of hearing cover versions of Jesse's Girl), but am now back into it with using ProTools. I've done CD's for Even To The Stars, D-Railed, nativemind, and Cuba. All of these bands exhibit great songwriting, musical talent, and love for their music. Cuba has finished their second CD 'Epilogue' and it's quite awesome. Buy it or download it from the usual online sources. Please check these bands out! It's worth your time. I've also just finished a CD with Brent McPike - tremendous guitar player/professor at ISU, and am working with Christina Blust - amazing voice and songwriter, and the usual gang of musicians who are part of the Syndicate.

I do recording/producing at no charge to the bands because there's too much great talent out there that goes unheard as your typical working musician can't afford quality recording. The bands and musicians I choose to work with share a number of common attributes: creativity, talent, a joy for performing, and openess to suggestion, as well as just being very decent people. I do however expect that if the bands I work with get signed or makes significant money off of what we create, that a small part of it is shared with me. It's not greed, it's just that I'd like to buy more toys for the studio.

I'm not interested in doing metal, country, rap or barbershop quartet music at all. This isn't a statement about the validity of those musical styles, just personal preferences. Acoustic, alternative, hard rock, jazz, classical are some of the genre's I'm interested in. I'm now looking for a new project, so if you're in the Terre Haute area, and meet the criteria above, let me know, maybe we can work together.
..
Your Personality Profile
You are elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant.
Your mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle.
You are also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs.

For you, comfort and calm are very important.
You tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection.
You prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong.

Who I'd like to meet:
A bore is someone who deprives you of solitude without providing you with company.

Crap. Forgot the reason why I actually went to make a comment. SO here it is...
Do I need the other guys for Sunday? Just in case? Or do you have it figured out? Either way I'll be there. If only just to hear the violin. Also, if we need to add a cello later I've got the gal.

I heard Favre wants out of his contract with GB. Damn, I never saw that coming from him. Don't worry though, he'll never be a Bear.

One of the girl's voices has a definite Aimee Mann feel to it. They are pretty good but I wouldn't go out and buy their cd.

Hi Don,
I now you busy this summer, but I was wondering if you had a day that I could come and record some stuff, and get your input on a few songs i'm working on?
CUBA

I know! Isn't she? I found her on youtube one day and I just fell in love. She's a great harpist and she tours with Devendra Banhart a lot. I want to get her cd as well. Apparently, although I didn't know it, in one of my magazines like an old Spin issue, they were talking about her and giving her a review on her new album, but I just now found this. Anyway, if you get the cd can I burn it off of you?

Jun 23 2008 11:22 AM

but you can never have too many amps, right?!??

I think I'm making progress on the guitar strap, too, though I'm still having trouble deciding. Maybe I'll just make a bunch and choose which one to use based on my outfit. teehe!

and who would be the new player?
Christina Blust

Jun 23 2008 9:46 AM

and did david tell you he scored me an amp? oh geez. I am having so much fun. we need to finish this album soon so we can start work on the next one, yo! :)

Jun 17 2008 10:10 AM

your myspace video is, quite possibly, the largest gig a band could play, complete with extremely unsafe, controlled-electrical arc explosions to woo the crowd: i guess my idea for the hydraulic, lifting/extending/exploding/spinning lead guitarist stand that swoops over a given audience (as the front man does the splits in mid air in a sad cry for attention) during a guitar solo (say the solo for "psycho circus" by kiss, for example) has been topped and put into practical use!

Hope the basement's drying nicely!

Today I baked a mulberry pie. At least I think they were mulberries, since I based that fact on my assumptions and on wikipedia. Whatever they are, they grow in my backyard. :)

I can't wait!
As for the shows, I'm now at 7th and elm every thursday at 9:30 and I'm playing the Terre Haute Cheese tomorrow and saturday. Laffoon is splitting sets with me tomorrow instead of me solo...as for the more distand future...I can't quite remember at the moment...I'll get em up tomorrow.

i was just calling to check up... had a question about an amp too... i'll try to ring you tomorrow (Wednesday)

Jun 10 2008 9:53 AM

Well, everyone else asked the question for me so I know that the studio did flood but it'll be ok. My question is... Was this the worst it's ever flooded? You have no idea how surreal it is to be out of town right now while Terre Haute is underwater. I actually saw south 7th street on CNN. Wow.
