I. The first meeting took place on April first, 2006. Since that day, we have met every two weeks leading up to the current date. Our discussions have centered on finding a space to showcase our art as well as others in the community. This space would also be used as a music venue, possibly studio space, and for various workshops. A newsletter will also be part of our group’s plan. Hoping to eventually create a magazine, the publication will not only be geared towards the visual arts but all things associated with artistic efforts and creativity. We would also use our space to conduct charitable events such as silent auctions, whose proceeds would go to select groups in need of support. We will involve ourselves in community outreach programs with a willingness to give back to the city of Omaha and define its supportive role within the United States. We have already made contact with the cancer society and several Native American Reservations in order to coordinate workshops and lectures. We have also contacted several local schools to arrange for guest speakers.
