About Casino Rueda:
Casino Rueda, or Rueda de Casino originated from Cuba in the 1950s. It started in El Casino Deportivo, a Havana social club. In Rueda, couples dance to the beat of Salsa Music with the leaders rapidly exchanging partners and the ladies being passed around in the circle after each move is performed. Each move has a name and many have hand signals, which are called by the leader/caller of the rueda- circle.
Objective of Providence Rueda 101:
1. Goal - Teach 50 moves.
2. Warm up Routines
3. Foot Work & Styling
4. Hand Signs for Moves
5. Encourage members to perform Rueda in clubs
Objective of Providence Rueda 102:
1. Goal - Teach 35 moves
2. Intermediate Level Dance moves
3. Foot Work & Styling
4. Dynamic Circle Formation
Moves taught will follow this sequence:
1. Name of move - Explanation
2. Hand Sign
3. Video (if possible)
4. Walk the move : Focus on Hands
5. Walk the move : Focus on Legs
6. Move execution : Hands and Legs
7. Co-ordination with the group

Who I'd like to meet:
A heart filled welcome to Providence Rueda Dancers. Providence Rueda is “OPEN TO ALL” and not particular to people who can dance Salsa. It is also to bring together, people who are enthused about Rueda but cannot find an interest group or do not have a venue to practice in Providence, RI. Apart from Rueda, I also do Warmup Routines and Line Dances involving Salsa, Cha Cha, Hip Hop and Indian Music.
This site is dedicated to give you all information pertaining to Providence Rueda 101 class.
Do I need a partner?
A partner helps, but it's not required. Emphasis will be laid on both leading and following Rueda moves so that guy or girl can be leader or follower.
Is there an Intermediate Class?
The current plan is to teach Rueda for beginners. Based on your interest and assessment of skill level of dancers after 4 weeks, an Intermediate level class is waiting in the wings to coexist with this class.
The Way Forward?
I would love to create a Rueda Performance group that would showcase creative choreographies across Rhode Island.
