Influences
You don't have room for the list. All five of us have known some pretty cool, and extremely talented musicians over the years. My brother and I dug deep into the Atlanta/Athens music world when we were younger. Up close and personal influences. These guys are a type of musicians/people that are beyond admiration and that is influential inspiration beyond your best dreams. You can check out Clay Broome, The Dirt Dobbers, Marcellus or Captain Soular Cat for some local faves. Radio influences I couldn't even begin to list. God Bless MUSIC!!
Sounds Like
Precious Lemons. Hmmmmm. You tell me. No one seems to have a style to call it.
Hi, I’m Natalie Ruddell, we are the Precious Lemons, and this should be fun. It started oh so long ago when my mother had the audacity to birth my brother, Greg Ruddell. And the world will never be the same. He and I have been playing music together since 1979-80. He used to sing with Kermit the frog voice because he was so shy. That didn’t last long. As soon as he figured out girls like a guy with a guitar, he found his voice. Thank God because we would sound really awful with Kermit singing backup. He moved to Athens with his band PHD in 1991. I ran sound and they kicked butt. Met all the right people. As is often the case, this is as far as that train went. Much the better for me, because he came back to little Rome, Ga and we started a reggae band, KAYA. We played steadily for eight years. We have lots of studio stuff with that band, but that’s another story. I put down my bass (the instrument of my soul) and picked up a guitar and sucked for a long time. Then all of a sudden I figured out how to work the thing and songs began to pop out all over the place. Now, my brother is a guitar natural. So, he takes the stuff I come up with, song bones and words, and arranges them into something a step above. Now we come to our buddy, drummie, bassy guy Greg Hancock. He has been my friend for about 12 years. Luck would have it that my brother and his family bought a house down the street from Greg H. and they were introduced. Greg H. is the key to all of this. He had a practice room that he was converting into a working studio. G & G have been working together on it for a couple of years. They do studio work that you just can’t imagine unless you’re there. If you have never done any studio work, it can be exciting beyond belief or a total pain in the boring ass. It takes a certain kind to be good at this, and they are superb. We have been fortunate enough to have two very talented studio guests. Ashley Meekins. He can play anything. I mean anything. Marcellus Cornwell on the bass. and other things. In a word: Multi-talented. They are on a couple of our latest recordings, "Rembrandt Sky" and "Invisible Spectrums of Magic". April should see us out and about in the local area. Yippee!! We have decided to hit it accoustic. Three piece guitars and bass. I can’t wait!! So that’s it. It’s lovely to meet you. We hope you like us. Hope to see you out soon!!
