"Porter's sensual voice and hypnotic piano combine for music that is not just heard, but absorbed and felt along with her."
~ Brian Smith, WICC 600 & BrianSmithRadio.com
"Porter is a first-rate songwriter/storyteller who accompanies herself beautifully on piano. She might be called a diamond in the rough if she didn't already shine so brightly."
~Phil Ciganer, THE TOWNE CRIER (Pawling, NY)
"...almost not songwriting, but putting poetry to music."
~Jerry Lieber, lyricist for Lieber and Stoller
"A playful, charismatic singer/songwriter with a clarion voice and a flair for words."

Not a problem at all. :-) I absolutely love the song. Is there a new CD? I heard a murmur among the birds... I am going to school here in NOLA. I was thinking about heading back up your way for my Christmas break. I miss Boston and its green community and the whole four seasons. Let me know if you are ever in N.O. :-)
Beltane is one of our Sabbats, it's also known as May Day. We pretty much just celebrate the height of Spring and fertility - the Goddess is the May Queen and the God the May King. And we dance around the maypole and everything - it's just a really wonderful Sabbat - one of my favorites.
thank you :)
i'll definitely be there. or autograph man :)
i actually have nothing big planned just a lot of work to get finished how about you? any shows?
its an app and it shows how i care enough to use my "money" (kinda like points) to buy you. or you can go corrupt and just mess with your status like my friends do to me.
are you gunna come back to simsbavon anytime soon?
thanks :) i love the colors too hahaha it's a pretty interesting job
oh i couldn't agree more!
the craft is my favorite movie of all time so that just made my day :) it's brilliant! i could watch it over and over again. it first introduced me to paganism.
you know, that did help a lot. thank you <3 i agree though. just my mom and i being there for him helps everyday.
yep, my dad's a glassblower (http://www. petergreenwood. com) brown is such a beautiful school - i love it there. more than risd. but risd is a great school as well.
yes it is :) it was one of Narragansett's beaches - they're all so beautiful oh! the cliff walk? i adore newport. so beautiful.
your new songs are absolutely beautiful and perfect! especially the melody on 'poke him with tacks' i can't wait to hear more (and i love the album title)
you too! i hope it's not raining as much there as it is here
i was actually just hanging out on ur page listening to ur new songs- loveeee them! yea i was kidding about the tattoos lol, and yes i visit my friends and family in ct. i cant wait til friday =) ur lucky to be going out to la =)
well I have to say I love the delicateness and the color and imagerey of your recent photos..The one where you are sitting on the grass with your fingers gently folding something very small is somethinng you have done since YOU were very small..Your lilliputan project...the architectural side.. so the feet in the water with lace skirt is a great divided image too..The new songs are clarion and make me smile, laugh and live in awe that we are so lucky to have daughter like you in our lives.. Keep that heart, voice and spirit in flight... little larks and dragonflies.. singing along with you is a pleasure.. the oboe reminds me of a musical paint brush...and all I had to do was push comment...xxxx mom
Hi again, Porter! Thanks for the note. I just read your blog about searching for a typewriter to use in a recording. We're doing a similar thing... funny! Good luck with the mixing (we'll also be doing that soon, too). Can't wait to hear the new stuff! ~ Sharon
oooh thats gunna be so much fun! are you going with some friends? or do u have family out there. and im sure everyones going to just love your music!! =) oh yea, so if u were deciding on a tattoo, i think piano keys going down ur back, or on ur side would be sweet! lol (this is coming form someone with no tattoos at all haha)
it was pretty hard. what happened was my dad had a stroke a few days before christmas last year. i was at my friend's house and i got a call saying: your dad has just been rushed to the hospital. one of the worst days of my life. and so they did a whole lot of mri's and tests and they finally noticed a hole in his heart. and they said we could leave it, take aspirin, and hope he won't have another stroke or get heart surgery which is always risky. we chose the surgery (cause he had a stroke previously, but the doctors told us it wasn't one). and we planned on it being in march i believe but insurance didn't get back to us in time so we had to move the operation. it went alright. the main doctor told us it wasn't 100 % successful and that they didn't put the slip thing that's supposed to seal up the hole in correctly and that it's leaking but that it should place itself normally over time.
we went to providence just to relax and get away from ct haha :) my family loves rhode island. unfortunately, i didn't have my board with me so instead of surfing, i hung out with a bunch of surfers and took several photographs - i did a whole surfing photoshoot, it was cool oh really!? what college? my dad went to risd :) it is lovely there
hahaha getting "shot" - punny. well they came out wonderfully i was gunna comment on one of them but then i looked at all of them, and they were all so good. so i decided to comment you instead (i'm very indecisive)
ah man enjoy the daffodil festival tonite! we're just havin a bbq then im goin to the beach like i do everyday =) well ill be in ct next weekend, are u playing anywhere?
oh dear, that must have been horrible. i hate those moments where you think you lost something, or didn't do something, or did something wrong and the extreme emotional distress that follows - it's the end of the world in itself but then the feeling of relief at the end is great :) i'm glad everything's alright though.
ahahaha i was in rhode island yesterday and i saw a tree that i liked so i sat underneath it and just meditated for a good 20 minutes and it felt so good. i hadn't done that in a while so it felt new and cleansing almost. i can't meditate in my house though. it has to be out in nature.
i'm alright. my dad had to undergo heart surgery last thursday so everything's been a bit stressful lately and how are you? the car wash was horrible, nobody came so i decided to donate 10 dollars out of my pocket money to drama :) and i actually do have a pretty big show coming up in may. i'm playing at a festival type thing called artstock at my high school. it's going to be a pretty cool thing - it's dedicated to art so painters, photographers, musicians, actors, etc can just come in and display - my friends are hosting it and really dig my music so i've got a good slot :D
Congrats on getting the cd done! where are you sending it to?!?! I'll have to pick your brain about all this sometime soon.
that's awesome that you're training to become a yoga teacher! I've been thinking about that too lately. I just went to visit some friends in colorado, and one was training to be a yoga teacher and all the things she was learning about the practice sounded wonderful. I'd like to do something along those lines at some point... i wonder if a could do bits and pieces while finishing school? have you heard of kripalu?
i would love to come visit ct this summer. i need to see more of the east coast. Have you been to vancouver before? I hear it's lovely. I know what you mean about friends getting married- are we really there yet?!? I've been to my boyfriend sean's friends weddings- and more to come- and it's pretty crazy to wrap my head around it sometimes.
yeah, i just moved up here about 3 months ago from connecticut... trust me- its not all its cracked up to be lol,..were you planning on coming up? summer up here should be really fun though so i cant wait for that =) and.... i think my friend mike, who i was with when we saw you at borders has been to more of your shows. i would if i was back in ct, i will be back in 2 weeks to visit though, what are you up to?
