Hope you'll be able to make it out to see Eric, Kenny, and I play the It's 5 O'Clock Cafe this Friday, the 30th! If you haven't been to the 5 O'Clock Cafe you don't know what you're missing. It's a tapas bar on a dock at the Fort McAllister Marina in Richmond Hill, and you couldn't ask for a better atmosphere, better seafood, or better..ahum!...music! What's more, it's always lady's night at the cafe, and the lady's always seem to outnumber the men!
The gas tax reveals something that EVERY media organization, and all of the major print producers are inextricably linked to the interests of the gas and oil industry, as well as the Wall Street financial firms and other large corporations that are interlinked.
The subject of gas and oil is very dangerous.
I doubt McCain comprehends fully what is going on, but Clinton most assureduly does. Those two are in full pander to the easy fix that is at best, a distraction from the real issues.
The gas and oil industry have shown themselves to be keenly interested in distraction.
I think when Clinton joined McCain, a very odd move, she unintentionallly allowed Obama to take charge.
Does Obama or his campaign really understand fully what they have tied into?
Our economy is right on the edge of going into the ditch. One of the key problems is that, since WWII, there has been really no thinking about alternatives to a dependence on the whole matrix of consumer growth, media, and all of the military spending the government does. The glue holding all of that together has been cheap oil. The elephant in the room here is that the media will do anything to avoid bringing into discussion the problems that we are currently facing. The only thing that all these people know how to do is to keep on doing the same thing since the end of WWII.
They are probably very afraid of opening up the curtain to look at the backstage realities that might scare the bejeesus out of anyone who gets a peek.
I think a lot of people appreciate Obama resisting the easy pander.
I think the media is afraid he will tell the truth, and the last thing they want is a President who actually will go on TV and tell the public what is really going on. So, that's my theory about why he is getting over-reactions to his sensible response to the 'superficiality' of the gas tax rebate idea. It certainly isn't logical on the surface.

recently in Canada, undercover cops were outed in a peaceful protest as they attempted to initiate violence that the SWAT geared police could use as an excuse to move in and attack / disperse / arrest the protesters. yes this is Canada in THIS case, but that only goes to show that the same police tactis are most likely used in the USA. there are many claims that this type of tactic was used years ago to give cops an excuse to beat up protesters in the 60s

Hillary Clinton just voted for another war in concert with the author of that un-American bill, Joe Lieberman. she is echoing the lies of GWB about Iraq in 2003 and now about Iran. a shameless deception on behalf of Israel. How could Hillary laugh at that? What Gravel said is dead serious. I'm glad Edwards went back to the Iran vote issue. Hillary should have learned from the Iraq vote. Hillary can't just laugh off any criticism. I know that diffuses some of the tension, but it keeps her from answering the question. These are real criticisms. If she wants to be our head of state, she should at least answer them. Gravel is great for pointing out the trickery some of these candidates are attempting to get away with. Hillary is an opportunist pro-war hawk. She pro-actively wanted a war with Iraq (proven by her pre-war interviews you can find on youtube), wants the war to continue and she wants one with Iran now. She's repeating the Bush administration's obvious lies about Iran supporting Sunni insurgents in Iraq just like she repeated lies about WMD.
