-We would greatly appreciate all of the help in networking and recruiting.
-If there are any Bloggers out there, you can really help online promotion out. Please get in contact with us.
-Approach college professors and suggest they encourage their students to attend. Postacrds and fliers wont do the trick alone

SPONSORSHIP

Email for more information. We have a sponsorship package that can fit just about any budget and several in-kind packages as well.
MusicMission

The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."

Sponsorship Information

The 48 Hour Film Project presents a unique opportunity for sponsors to brand themselves as cutting edge, artsy, stylistic and distinct to a targeted group of hip trendsetting, educated, fashionable consumers and prosumers. Take advantage of the tremendous amount of media coverage garnered by the drama of the competition. Thousands of amateur and professional filmmakers / videographers come together in 15 of the top US and World Wide markets to compete against each other and the clock. Build your brand on the foundation of the bonds formed by the participatory experience between the competitors and with their audience members. We offer you sponsorship opportunities ranging in size and scope to accommodate virtually any marketing strategy. We'll even create a custom sponsorship package to efficiently market the message you wish to deliver.

Prizes

The 48 Hour Film Project provides a range of prizes and recognition for our filmmakers.

Exposure

Winning films will be seen. The 48HFP works to get filmmakers and their films exposure beyond the initial screenings. We have produced DVDs of the winning films. We have taken the top films to festivals including SXSW in Austin and Cinequest in San Jose. We have sold films to television.

Grand Prize

This year, as we finalize our sponsors and prizes, we expect to have a winner's package that will include $7500 and distribution. Past grand prizes have included the Panasonic HVX200 HD Camera and hardware and software from Avid.

Screening and Awards Ceremony

At the end of the year, there will be the official 48HFP Awards Weekend. All City Winner films will screen and the "Best 48 Hour Film of 2008" will be announced. Previous locations for the Awards Weekend have been SXSW and Cinequest

My name is Rick Frisco and I will be producing Pittsburgh’s 48 Hour Film Festival.

A Board of Directors have been assembled to help in the planning and organizing of the event. Board members are: Jay Kuntz, Jessica Conner and Myself. Thank these people when you can; they have been a big help in the event.

Our plan is simple. To bring filmmaking talent together in a festival/competition style event that helps form a bond between talent and local services and offerings. There is no better way to showcase what the Pittsburgh Area has to offer, than to put the results on screen. Our showcase will view from local screenings to international viewings.

Our goal is to exceed the standards of the national company and set a new standard, both artistically and through participation.

The Festival will facilitate actors, writers, musicians, camera ops, Editor/producers etc…

Our 2007 Project has had 35 Entries with only 28 teams being able to compete in the event due to the screening process. Please feel free to contact me with any questions/concerns,

Announces 2008 Film Festival

The 2nd Annual Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Festival will take place

June 6th -8th, 2008

Pittsburgh, PA, April 5th, 2008 – The Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Festival (P48_08), announced today the sequence of events for the 2nd annual 48 Hour Film Festival to be held June 6-8 2008. The Opening Night for the Festival will gather over 28 Teams of Local and National Film Production Artists receiving their unknown Packets of Production information. The teams will be competing in the 48 Hour Film Project’s tour to find “The Best 48 Hour Film of 2008.” Local film teams will have just 48 hours to make a film – from writing and shooting to editing and adding music. The films will have their International Premier the week following the production weekend. The 48 Hour Film Project is held in over 70 cities in the US, plus Paris and Brisbane Australia. Pittsburgh films are eligible for awards, such as Audience Winner, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. One team will be selected as the Pittsburgh City Winner and will go on to compete against teams from other cities. The Top 8 teams will go on to compete in the HD Filmmaker Showdown sponsored by Visa and Panasonic. The winning filmmaker of the Showdown will receive $7500 as well as distribution for its film.

“We are very excited about the powerful lineup of genre’s we have for this year’s festival that continues our goal of bringing the finest films throughout the world to Pittsburgh,” said Mr. Rick Frisco, local producer of The 48 Hour Film Project. “We are able to dazzle participants and festival-goers this second year thanks to the wonderful P48_08 teams, colleges and local employees as well as our generous sponsors.”

"The second annual 48 Hour Film Festival in Pittsburgh represents the best of today’s world cinema. It introduces new cinematic voices from local talent, and teams across the US,” said Festival Director Jay Kuntz. “ Film festivals now serve a key role as a new channel of distribution which replaces in many cases the traditional art house as a venue for the introduction of high quality, challenging cinema. The Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Festival is proud to be part of a movement which brings significant new films to a wide audience." The city screenings will be on Tuesday, June 17th and Wednesday June 18th, 2008 at 7:00 and 9:30 PM the recipients of each award will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on Friday June 20th at 7:00 PM. Please let us know if you would like to attend.

Below is information about this year’s competition. We would like to extend the invitation not only to attend the screening of the films but to spend the weekend on set with any of the local film teams. Please let me know if you would like to speak to the Pittsburgh Producer, or any of the local filmmakers competing in the weekend. For further information, please visit:
www.48hourfilm.com.

Squonk Opera

Jan 7 2008 11:49 AM

What do you give a city that has everything? Why not its own opera!
Help kick off the 250th birthday year of the 'burgh with the return of
Squonk Opera's roast/toast of the formerly smoky city in a little show we call
Pittsburgh: The Opera!
We debuted this show in June of 2006 and sold out the run, so we're bringing it back for 4 shows only, January 17-20 at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater in East Liberty (or Eastside as some people like to call it).
Since the last run of Pittsburgh: The Opera, we’ve done operas for Baltimore,
St Louis, Albany, College Park, Columbia, Chester County and South Orange as part of our touring series (put your hometown's name here): The Opera.
But none of them compare to Pittsburgh.
So redd up your room, grab your terrible towel and tap your inner yinzer for a rollicking good time with all of the other jagoffs.
Yinz better be there!

Friday, January 18 at 8 pm

"In order to be really hip, you can’t have any notion of being hip. And that’s what Pittsburgh is. No one thinks this place is hip. So, it is the hippest place on earth!” -Rick Sebak from Pittsburgh: The Opera
