Having released an out of print single under the same moniker in the '90s, his style developed from the lo-fi aesthetic into a sophisticated songcraft akin to Bert Jansch or John Renbourn. As a multi-instrumentalist, he worked in the group Tower Recordings, which released albums on the Siltbreeze and Audible Hiss labels. They were somewhat cult icons of the downtown New York scene during the '90s, with performances that included British folk revival styles meeting Sun Ra-inspired jamming, to all-out noise and improvisation. For his debut album, he worked with percussionist Tim Barnes, and the two created a wonder world of psychedelia and pop sensibility with the inflection of all manner of instruments performed by Gubler, including harp, flutes, and keyboards to accent his electric and acoustic guitars. Slightly Sorry arrived in 2007 on Drag City Records. Gubler kept a low profile over the next four years, playing out only sporadically, while working on another set of songs and in other project settings. In August of 2011, Drag City released P.G. Six's sophomore effort for the label, the very electric, full band effort Starry Mind. ~ Martin Walters
