Although it's easy to peg guitarist Peter Parcek as merely a blues rock guitarist upon first listen, once you dig a bit deeper, you discover that elements of soul, jazz, funk, and country crop up in his playing style, as well.
Born in New England and currently based in Boston, Parcek has opened for such acclaimed artists as the Grateful Dead, Sheryl Crow, and Roy Buchanan over the years, and even recorded/toured (and served as a bandleader) for Muddy Waters' piano player, Pinetop Perkins - appearing on Perkins' 1992 release, On Top. For his 2000 solo debut, Evolution, Parcek combined original compositions along with classic songs by Freddie King and Mose Allison, and was joined by such special guests as Al Kooper and Ronnie Earl. ~ Greg Prato
