I'm a systems developer at a progressive non-profit in Washington, DC. In my spare time I spin downtempo and dance stuff. My sound sort of goes back and forth between cool, techy and warmer dub, jazz, and disco influenced tracks. It's an interesting tension. I used to play at Sonar and the Ottobar among various other clubs and bars in Baltimore and threw a party called "Chuffed" here in DC for maybe six or seven months, snagging mentions in the Washington Post and New York Times.
In grad school I worked with a research group studying the structure of blog and Livejournal networks. My own research dealt with the ecology of politcal blog networks and was presented at a couple of conferences. Presenting at conferences feels kind of like spinning a set, only with less dancing. Usually. As an undergrad I focused on the cultural history of the Weimar Republic, particularly media created by German veterans of the First World War and the cultural aesthetic underpinnings of National Socialism. This last bit led to a stream of jokes at my expense from "friends" who insist that my work is all about Nazis. You people know who you are.

I see by your comments space that my minions have already gotten to you. Also Angie came home and told me all about Face Book yesterday….see your proselytizing is working ;-)
