General
Music recording and production, live sound-reinforcement, location sound recording for film/video, audio electronics repair, reading, High Intensity Training, nutrition.
The player below has some cool Rogue Wave videos from their recent shows!
Music
I enjoy everything ranging from Alt-Country to Heavy Metal, Jazz to Folk, Reggae to Punk Rock, and Classical to shameless Pop hits. Some of my favorite music that is not already in my top friends list includes:
When I'm not touring I rarely go out to hear live music. Typically the sound systems in most clubs are lousy and even when they are adequate they're almost always TOO FUCKING LOUD ! ! ! Believe it or not, I don't normally like loud music and I always have a pair of earplugs with me anywhere I go. I'd rather not end up deaf before I'm 40.
Movies
The Thing Miracle The Shawshank Redemption Serenity Joe Dirt The Incredibles The World's Fastest Indian Stand By Me Pee Wee's Big Adventure The Wanderers The Road Warrior Tombstone A Midnight Clear Cop Land The Insider L.A. Confidential Mother Night Ratatouille Dark City 12 Angry Men
Television
The smartest and funniest show ever broadcast on TV was Mystery Science Theater 3000, and it was cancelled several years ago. Even The Simpson’s places a distant second to MST3K.
A friend turned me on to the DVD box set of the show Firefly, which has only furthered my frustration with TV in general. The fact that the stupidest dreck like "Friends" can last year after year while a show like Firefly can't get enough support to last a single season is enough to make me puke...
I also like Gene Simmons Family Jewels, UFC/Ultimate Fighter, COPS, America's Most Wanted, and anything involving crazy police chases or morons getting their asses beat by cops.
Oh, and FWIW, Marg Helgenberger is the hottest woman on TV.

About me:
Every day I wake up feeling grateful to have a career that I love because I never really feel like I have to go to work at a meaningless "job" just to survive. Some say being a sound engineer is a thankless task, but if you read through my comments section below you will see that people are constantly thanking me for both great sound skills and a positive attitude. Being friendly, patient, helpful, and kind, while maintaining a professional attitude and delivering the highest possible level of sound quality is what separates me from most of my notoriously bitter and grumpy peers.
I have enjoyed working with sound reinforcement systems and recording equipment since 1991. In 2005 I began mixing sound for various bands and venues around the San Francisco bay area. In less than one year I was promoted to being the head sound-person at one of the premier live music venues in San Francisco, The Bottom of the Hill. I sometimes mix at The Elbo Room along with freelancing for other bay area bands and sound reinforcement companies. I regularly work as a "guest engineer" in other venues for both The May Fire and Triple Cobra. I am perfectly comfortable mixing at the front of house in _any_ venue and in front of any number of people. I have already mixed FOH at most of the largest concert festivals in North America, including SXSW, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Sasquatch, KFOG's "Kaboom", Osheaga, All Points West, Outside Lands, and the main stage at Coachella.
I own a large collection of recording and live sound equipment (microphones, mixers, compressors, gates, reverbs, racks and road cases, microphone stands, cables/snakes, etc). Under the right circumstances I will take my own gear on the road so as to ensure a certain level of quality control and predictability in constantly changing environments.
I actually enjoy driving long distances and I'm always sober and in good shape to drive. I don't smoke or use any recreational narcotics, and I rarely ever drink anything containing alcohol. I take my health seriously and I have a solid grasp on the fundamentals of exercise and nutrition. I spent 6 years working off and on in health food/vitamin/supplement stores, and I've also worked as a personal fitness trainer. Whenever my schedule permits I continue to work out while I'm on the road.
I love my job and take it very seriously. I go on the road to work in new environments and expand my skills, not to just party with musicians or groupies. I intend to keep my good reputation which earns me such great jobs with serious bands.
I divide my time at home between working, reading, learning electronics repair, exercising, watching TV/movies, and bugging my roommate.
Who I'd like to meet: The only friends I add to this account are people from the music or film industries. That means bands, musicians, tour managers, roadies, backline tech’s, touring merch people, misc. road crew, recording studio owners, producers, live music venue owners, concert promoters, booking agents, management agencies, film makers, video directors, production mixers, boom-op's, etc.
I would like to meet mature, hard working, honest, unpretentious professionals. I have encountered enough immature, lazy, dishonest, music-snob hipsters to know the difference. If you've got hang-ups about people making money in the music industry, think "business" is a dirty word, or think that being in a musician or "creative type" allows one to lower their ethical standards then please don't waste your time contacting me. I only want to work where people are paid what they're worth, treated fairly, and respected for what they do. I've been very lucky to tour with a lot of bands whose music I absolutely love, which makes it much easier to go the extra mile when necessary.
If you think that my skills, experience, work ethic, attitude, and personality could lead to us having a mutually beneficial relationship then please drop me a line. My daily and/or weekly rates are negotiable depending on the specifics of the job.
