Patti Shaffner is truly a distinctive voice in Chicagolands music scene. Her delivery mates a sophisticated understanding of the great American songbooks lyrical material with a gutsy, soulful tone firmly anchored in the blues. The results are a sultry, sexy sound.
On stage Ms Shaffner displays a firm command of her ensemble with her relaxed, yet take-charge presence. An excellent musician, she is confident of her own abilities, participating with the other musicians on an equal footing and placing her own individual stamp on each piece.
In addition to being a fine singer Ms Shaffner is a talented composer. Her compositions exhibit a blend of witty lyrics and funky soulfulness that makes them both entertaining and stimulating to listen to.

It is one of my earliest memories - singing with my father - who taught me harmonies and who loved jazz.
I have been fortunate to study spontaneous vocal improvisation and invention with Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon (www.rhiannonmusic.com) - They are amazing - enlightening teachers
In 2008 I will be one of 16 singers joining Rhiannon in "All The Way In" - a year long program of study in vocal improv, teaching methods and healing.
I will also continue to conduct vocal workshops and teach vocal techniques as a mentor and coach for both singers and those who have not yet found their voice.
Singing gives expression to this Life we are living. Joys and sorrows find voice in song. What an astounding gift the voice is!
