Rory's Interests
General
Reading my big 'ol Bible to learn more about Jesus the God-Man, tocaring my guitarra, riding my horses, and Battlefield 2 is one of my fav's. I love studying millitary history, especially WWII. I enjoy hunting, but have a hard time finding the time to do it.
Music
My fav is Christian Worship (Tomlin, Crowder, Delerious, Warren Barfield, Matt Redman, Paul Oakley). I do enjoy some country 'cause it reminds me of my old stomping grounds, and life on the ranch. Skillet, U2, Switchfoot, Tree 63.
Movies
Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Flags of our Fathers, Man From Snowy River (1&2) We Were Soldiers Once and Young, Blackhawk Down, The Patriot, Braveheart, Tombstone, Lonesome Dove.
Television
24!24!24! Lost is good, but too many reruns! My Name is Earl, the Office,House, SNL, War Stories with Oliver North, Mail Call, Man vs Wild.
Books
You guessed it! Band of Brothers the BOOK! Marine Sniper- Carlos Hathcock, Oliver North's Mission Compromised and Jericho Sanction. Shooter by Gunnery Sgt Jack Coughman USMC. D-Day by Stephen Ambrose.
Heroes
My Dad: the best example of a Godly man I ever had...heck of a cowboy, best vet, darn good dad, never complained about anything, triumphed through trials.
My Gramps: Hero to our country as a B17 Bombardier...34 missions! (Check out B-17 video in memory of him at right), great friend, good doctor, with the Lord now.
Dick Winters: The guy was a great soldier have you heard his stories???!!!.
About me: I Grew up on a large cattle ranch in Oregon where I learned to "rope and ride." In high school I understood how personal a relationship with the risen Jesus could be, so I gave my life completely to Him. I am now a Pastor specifically to high school students and love it.(Check out Solomon's Porch at calvarycorvallis.org)
I have an awesome wife who is the best encouragement I have ever had, and she cracks me up constantly. On February 1, 2007 we had our first child Russell Kenneth. I know I am biased but I think he could possibly be the cutest baby ever! I so look forward to spending time with him and watching him grow into a man of God.
Who I'd like to meet: Major Dick Winters from Band of Brothers. I got to meet Don Malarkey last year (well, I got his autograph and talked to him for 30 seconds!)Any and all WWII veterans. Michael Jordan!- If I could I'd really like to meet George Washington.
ya that sounds like it will be fun. i was actually thinking about going to creation because ive never gone to it before. but i was thinking, and i realized that i only have a couple more summer camps to go to until i leave the high school group. so im most likley going to camp know.
hey Rory sorry I didn't write back sooner but I don't check myspace that much. The reason I'm going to Creation is because it is way cheaper! I can't afford it nether can my parents. Ii do wan t to go. well i will probably see you at the wizard of uz tonight so buy
LOL ~yeah maybe I should add some pictures of my cowgirl days but you need to add some of your cowboy days as well!! Everyone is doing good, Chad and Brit are expecting another one in August so the family is growing fast...Russell looks adorable, I bet he needs a brother or sister;-)
Rory! How are you? What an amazing small world we live in. I now work with one of your friends...Scott. He is so nice! Anyway, just wanted to say hello! Take care ~ Jess
Hey Rory, just wanted to say hi, Kam Moi and I just got to our hotel room in Tel Aviv, its really beautiful here. We should keep in touch while I'm gone bro.
Tonight your teaching was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing at One Voice! We came home and were talking about how much we enjoyed it and how wonderful it was and a guy that was studying with one of my roommates sat there with a perplexed look on his face. He is always asking questions, but always negative and a skeptic. What got to him more than what we were sharing was how we were sharing. He said in all his years of going to Catholic mass and Catholic school he never would have left and said "That was amazing!" Thanks for your passion.
