Building on their critically acclaimed debut release, At Evensong, and a reputation for phenomenal live shows, Pier Nineteen are now poised to cement their place as one of Ireland's best loved secrets with the release of their sophomore album later this year. Since At Evensong was released in late 2006 the band have been busy adding to their ever-growing fan base by playing alongside Dave Geraghty on the 2fm 2moro 2our, as well as the ever-popular Hard Working Class Heroes Festival and the Oxjam festival in Dublin.
The Dublin based 5-piece's sound has been described by one American magazine as “music with an obvious passion and honesty underneath” and they have been compared to bands such as Wilco & Bright Eyes on more than one occasion which is is something the band are quite chuffed about.
This sound has evolved in the seven years they have been together. Evidence of this can be heard throughout At Evensong which is a collection of songs, both old and new, written throughout this seven year period. People attending the show in An Roisin Dubh on April 19th can expect a solid mixture of songs featured on the album and some songs from their highly anticipated new album.
Attempts at getting their music out to the masses have been very fruitful in the last year or so. Not only were the band offered highly prestigious slots at the Hard Working Class Heroes festival and the 2fm 2moro 2our, the band's music officially went international when they signed a licensing deal with L.A. based Noma Music for film & TV in the US and Canada.
The rest of 2008 sees the band put the finishing touches on their as yet untitled new album with a nationwide tour to follow.

Dear Irish friends and friends of Europe, I am a citizen of a EU member state. In my country, we have not been allowed to vote on the future of Europe, because we already voted NO, and they knew we would vote NO again. You, our friends in Ireland, alone have this right and are called to vote on the "Lisbon Treaty" on June 12th. I reject this Treaty as undemocratic in conception and in content. Please, vote NO on this Treaty for me as a first step to building a common social, ecological, democratic and peaceful Europe.
YES to Democracy, NO to Lisbon Treaty

Noun. A combination of the word "fuck" (to fornicate) and the word "tard" (to delay). Therefore, a fucktard is a girl who won't let you fornicate with her until like the third or fourth date.
Most catholic girls are fucktards. (this is obviously a lie)
