Oxfam Cafe is a volunteer-run vegetarian cafe at Tufts University. Proceeds from the cafe are donated to Oxfam America, an organization which works to create sustainable solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustices in developing countries.
All shows at the cafe are free of charge for those with a Tufts ID; some are free for all. Check each individual show listing for specifics. Shows booked by Midnight Cafe, Oxfam's in-house booking agency, feature free fair-trade coffee.
HOW TO GET TO OXFAM
You don't know where Oxfam is? No problem!
If you're coming from Davis Square, you can walk (see directions below) or you can take a shuttle which runs every 20 minutes (30 min. on the weekends) directly from Davis to a block away from Oxfam! The shuttle picks up directly across from the Somerville Theatre. Get off at the 2nd stop (Carmichael stop).
Walking from Davis Square:
Walk up Holland Ave toward Teele Square. Turn right after the playground onto Paulina Street. Turn left and walk down Broadway for one block, then take a right on Packard Ave. This will take you into the Tufts campus. Keep going up Packard until you reach the top of the hill. Oxfam is in the basement of Miller Hall, the brick building which will be on your left, on the block bordered by Professors Row, Curtis/Winthrop St., Capen St., and Packard on this map. Refer also to campus map. Miller is at B-2 on the map.
On the Bus from Davis Square:
--Take the Tufts shuttle [free, no ID card necessary] from Holland Ave, right across from the T station and Somerville Theater. Refer to shuttle schedule here.
--Take the 96 or 94 bus to the corner of Boston Ave. and Winthrop St. Walk up Winthrop, and take a left on Capen. Refer to campus map to find Miller Hall, B-2.
By car:
Refer to directions on Tufts website, but keep in mind that there is no driving entrance to the cafe from Packard Ave. From the south, drive up Curtis St. from Powderhouse Blvd. After entering campus, turn into the second parking lot [Langsom Lot] on the right after the baseball fields. Coming from the north, drive up Winthrop St. and turn left into the first lot.
