Influences
An almost constant desire to be chased from town by folks with sticks, torches, nooses and pitchforks. A keen understanding of the differences between pork pie hats and pork pies themselves. A strong awareness that the time of the pork pie hat is well past us and the follow through to not wear them. Some bands. Breaking glass. Marsha Brady Elroy Jetson. The soundtrack to the movie "Frank-n-Waffle" (which SHOULD exist) In which a young John Cusack plays a dreamer who wants to sell waffles with hot dogs stuffed inside them, but is instead caught in a complicated game of shadows and intrigue. Kind of like Soylent Green meets Running Scared meets Good Burger. Cedric the Entertainer plays Mortimer the Pork Pie Hat.
Among the plentiful setbacks in a band's struggle to "the toppermost of the poppermost," is that late in the game realization that someone else is using your name- suddenly crushing that instant recognition you hoped your name would bring to all those who heard it...
Featured below are just a few of the many impressive bands with probable hordes of followers that we shall someday have to wrestle- or give up our name to...
The Young Hopefuls... With a fire in their eyes:
The Ones we're afraid of
Stay tuned for more tunes by the folks who stole our verb.
Oh and here's some stuff about us... IF WE CAN EVEN BE US ANYMORE!?!??!?!?!
From this year's top 20 picks for Athfest:
This time last year there were exactly three bands in Athens playing that could loosely be called "shoegaze-country." Sleepy Horses has reformatted its lineup and is still finding its (new) footing, and The Low Lows are in the studio this week, and then there's Push!. The band sways, not swings, with an emotional current and a Georgia-via-Manchester, England sound that betrays the influences of its members, yet keeps 'em solidly homegrown. Very good.

You pierced the darkness and then You made us forget who we were You asked no questions, you didn’t care You already knew all the answers You were the first one out there And darkly you greet the sun They called you stubborn in the waiting But you knew you were the first one And you were the only one The sun was all your own know
Stretched out on the sand you showed no lines Your lotions went on smoothly disappearing Only grains of sand visible on your skin The sky found no impediment to you body You tore down all the barriers yourself You were the one between us and the rising sun But you were the one that blinded We could see no lines there

No more games are tolerated you say And we know that flinching now could be dangerous You know that you are the one that they believe in You are the one who is the last one A threat to us is deeply understood And we can’t last much longer If you become what you say we are Your way is set in stone, no one will ever know
Your descent to the valleys was fluid One step followed another, content in the knowing That no snow could ever touch you Those icy feathers all around you sublime in fear It was all so understandable to us They knew they could never match you
