the story behind the name "ophir drive"
"when i first got to manhattanville college, ophir drive was the first street the free bus would pass on the way to the train station to take me to new york city. to me, this street symbolized my small steps toward a big dream. i later learned "ophir" means "land of the riches" in hebrew and i feel that as ophir drive constantly evolves, one thing remains constant: the richness in the music."

Ophir Drive has been a bit of a mystery since a move to North Carolina over a year ago. After playing at famous venues like The Knitting Factory, CBGBs, and BB King's Blues Club and Grille in NYC, there have only been a handful of shows down south, and no new music has been posted.
There are some good reasons for this:
OD began performing like a lion less than two days after the move was complete, hitting up local open mics and blowing away the hosts, as well as some locals...which led to a very unpleasant stalking experience. OD was never stalked or harassed in any way in NYC by any fans, and always felt safe on her way to and from gigs. Hopefully this clears up a little bit of the mystery.
OD is working on getting back out in the Fayetteville music scene and continuing to promote Harmonic Half Life, the CD completed less than a month prior to her move to North Carolina from New York City last spring. New coffee shops opening, and some new venues coming out, as well as open mic nights at Paddy's are hopeful possibilities for this talented performer.
The Harmonic Half Life EP was released by Building Robot Records on 6 April 2007 and features tracks "Leave Me Alone," "Troubled Girl," and "Write Me Off," as well as 2 more.
Initially a duet between producer Jeff Soto and frontwoman Sarah, Ophir Drive's name has stayed the same through many different lineups, and is finally a duet again on the most recent album. From Sarah's first original acoustic performance at the Prodigal Son on Cape Cod, Massachusetts (now the Island Merchant) to a monthly gig at CB's 313 Gallery before the closing, Ophir Drive has developed into an act that "may be short in stature but [is] tall on talent."
Ophir Drive has been booked with artists including: Lennon, Coheed & Cambria, the Bouncing Souls, IZZ, Natalie Gelman, Sara Leketa and more.
Ophir Drive has and can be seen at venues including: CB's 313 Gallery, BB King's Blues Club & Grille, the Knitting Factory, Paddy's Irish Pub, The Alphabet Lounge, The Island Merchant, the Underground Lounge, the C-Note, and more.
