ONL was formed in 2006, after the three core members Stig Olson, Paul Nieman and Steve Lodder crossed professional paths once too often to ignore. The ONL lineup currently includes Stig Olson (Saxophones), Paul Nieman (Trombones), Steve Lodder (Keyboards), Simon Pearson (Drums) and Andy Hamill (Bass).
ONL’s music is chamber-jazz, navigating a full dynamic range from intimate duo and trio forms all the way through to sumptuous full-on five-piece sounds - the compositions are concise, giving players space to weave written and improvised paths through the minimal, notated structures, accompanied occasionally by electronic soundscapes and motifs - the fulcrum of ONL's composition process is that ‘less is more’
