UncleSam aka DJ Sam since the earliest childhood was close to music; it
began with listening of his father’s reels, then an era of tape recorders has come Sam has pulled to play. The first experience with musical material was on his friend’s birthday when Sam rent for 5 ?.?. old boards Elektronika-PM, columns and two tape recorders. As soon as he tried to play, he understood that it is it. It turned out to play beautifully music to public for pleasure.
In due course, a strong desire to play for a bigger audience than 15-20
Friends appear. It takes little time to decide to change home parties for clubs. His club career starts at local clubs where his technical
skills and music material grows. He became a resident at club "Ljalka"
where he came with his own pack of CD's with house music. That time
he played: Duft Punk, Clubbheads etc. For about year and a half working in club he gain an invaluable experience of working with dance floor
and understanding of old jazz, lounge music. Then came his first experience
of promotion. Together with DJ Ches in 2000 they started a regular
parties "In Da House". The big attention was given to variety of musical
styles: Sam played trance, house, techno, drum'n'bass, breakbeat, even
hip-hop, Ches was playing progressive house and speed garage. DJ Kuzmitch was the only techno dj in Lviv in that time and he became the first guest on a party “ In Da House”. DJ Kuzmitch made a big impression on Sam and has pushed him to techno.
After “In Da House” parties followed "Techno Shock" parties; it was first Sam's attempt to bring techno music to people and he seriously
started thinking about playing only techno music. Techno interested him with
energetic and hard sounding: "Techno isn't too quick and not too slow -
the best for dance floor". This transition was held in 2002. He left
resident work in club and started to develop dj-ing on a professional level.
The career of a dj started as soon as he starts playing exceptionally from vinyl in 2002. Professional promotion work started in 2003, when the first
party "Detroit techno sound" took place in Beat club. In that time due to a bad reputation of the club nobody wants to make parties there. "Detroit techno sound" was Sam’s idea. He consider this project as an evolution of techno music in Lviv and a possibility to present interesting artists from different countries. At the same time an independent promo-group "PRO" appeared and three dj's were it members. On the first party of the project "Detroit techno sound" played only Ukrainian dj's, but on the fourth party appeared desire to work with European dj’s. Tomash Gee from Poland was the first guest from Europe who played on a party. Since that the list of famous European dj’s who played on "Detroit techno sound" impressed, they are : WJ HENZE aka GECKO (ZENIT, FEDERATION OF DRUMS, Germany), Toky
aka Rumenige (Antidandruff, Numb, PVC, Slovakia), Hu (Backstage,
Slovakia), Grovskopa (Emergence, Sweden), Eric Chehov (viatorpro.com, Latvia), Miss Dilemma (Stockholm, Sweden), Pagalve (Electronic Assault, Litva), Radan Mach (Fatalrecords, Czech rep.), DJ MICHEL (Strictly Techno,
Holland), Chris Binder (Primal Confusion Rec., RAD 23 USA, Germany),
Christian Fischer (Bryzant, Definition Records, Germany), The Pusher aka
Marcelo K2 (Global Beat, P.u.s.h. project, Brazil) and many others.
The birthday of "Detroit techno sound" held every last friday of may.
Under the label "PRO" Sam organized several success projects:
- «Fish-ka» - original sea thematic design and combination of two musical styles - techno and progressive;
- Project of rebirth of trance culture in Lviv - "Trance
renaissance"
- “7bioz” - project of popularization of Ukrainian dj's
Sam played mostly all over Ukraine. In September 2005 Sam played in Poland (Lublin, club " GRAFFITY "). In October 2005 - in Slovakia (Bratislava, Subclub) and at Clubbing Complex, Nove Zamky). In February 2006 together with DJ Toky he played in club Vault in Vilnius (Litva).
Sam gain a recognition in Europe thanks to his promotional skills. His
promotional skills are responsible attitude to his work, inviting only
professional dj's, providing them with comfortable accomadations, best sound and equipment.
DJ Sam play uncompromised techno - from destructive hard techno to
energy groovy techno. Now he used to play vinyls by Takaaki Itoh,
Gunjack, Grovskopa, British Murder Boys etc.
Nowadays DJ Sam - one of the best Ukrainian techno DJ's, the only one
who play techno from vinyl. He faithful to that culture he
loves most. He doesn’t push himself to popular and commercial sound,
recently finish his sets with techno hymns such as Jeff Mills "The Bells".
UncleSam is a techno knight of Ukrainian clubbing scene. "Where is no
place for losers and winners. The main thing is that interesting music came to listeners", this is how dj-ing work should be. DJ Sam - professional dj
whom experience you can trust.
"Yesterday was techno, you don't hear it. Today techno is sounding,
you hear it. And tomorrow will come techno that will explode you", - DJ
Sam.
