Thanks to Netflix, we watch a LOT of movies, but the ones I've watched over and over again are: Gone with the Wind; Gladiator; Lethal Weapon (the original, not the sequels); LA Confidential; A Walk in the Clouds; Into the West; The Secret of Roan Inish; Pirates of the Caribbean, the Black Pearl; Dear Frankie, The Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Spinal Tap.
Television
Although I'm a lifelong (well, since I was 7 years old) NY Yankees fan, I'm always ready for some football. College, pros, it doesn't matter. Hunky guys running around in shoulder pads and tight spandex. What's not to love?
I'm also hugely hooked on Mad Men, although watching it has me swinging, moment to moment, to wanting a cigarette (though I quit years and years ago), to wanting to choke from all the smoke I can practically smell emanating from my TV screen. It's also a bit like watching an impending train wreck; I can't see any way things can turn out well for these characters.
I'm also willing to admit I love reality shows. My new favorite is Greatest American Dog and although I've given up on Survivor and Beauty and the Geek, I never miss The Amazing Race, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With the Stars, Top Chef, and for true diva, back-stabbing drama, Project Runway, where one day you're in, the next day you're out.
Heroes
All the remarkably strong women who have battled breast cancer and those who continue to fight it still.
First responders and the military men and women who stand in harm's way around the world, and the families who stand by these sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers awaiting their return home. Those of us who enjoy our country's blessings owe them all a debt of gratitude for their service.
1) My first job, when I was three years old, was in a roller skating follies. My mother was a chorus line skater (sort of a Rockette on wheels), and since dependable day care was hard to come by in those days, I was made a member of the troop. My pay, a hot fudge sundae and a weekly movie matinee, seemed extraordinarily generous at the time.
2) My early years were spent in a bungalow on Santa Monica Beach, with bulked up bodybuilders from L.A.'s Muscle Beach as babysitters.
3) While still in grammar school, I wrote melodramas, casting my sisters and neighborhood kids in the roles; since I was a prolific writer, box office receipts paid for my first bike.
4) After my mother remarried, I moved to the remote ranching country of Southern Oregon. Because the Cascade Mountains blocked television signals, people were forced to find other ways to amuse themselves. When I was ten-years-old, I led a group of kids to an abandoned cattle slaughter house and convinced them that the blood spattered all over the floor and walls was from murdered Girl Scouts.
5) While in high school, I interviewed local “celebrities” on a weekly afternoon television news/talk show.
6) I worked as a magician's assistant. (And no, I will not reveal how I was cut in half.)
7) I played folk piano in coffee houses, still believe Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind is one of the best songs ever written, but hope never to hear Puff the Magic Dragon again!
8) I married my high school sweetheart. Twice.
9) I've skydived over the Arizona desert.
10) I dearly hope editors never discover that I'd write for chocolate.
Having worked in journalism and advertising before turning to fiction, I've written ninety-nine novels. So far.
These days I'm writing for NAL Signet and Kensington and my books have appeared on the New York Times and USA Today bestseller lists. I've also been published in 28 languages as well as in the Doubleday, Rhapsody, Literary Guild, and Mystery Guild booksclubs, and have had two novels excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine, which, I occasionally remind my sweetie, makes me an official Cosmo Girl.
You can find out more about my books, and see pics, videos, and other cool stuff on my website.
Meanwhile, let's talk about one of my most favorite things to do, which is spending my days with hot, hot, hot (!) guys. Some people might say, "But yeah, JoAnn, the thing is, those guys are fictional."
Really? Well, maybe if you want to get technical. But to me, they're definitely real. And did I mention they're really, really hot? I've written all over the genres: category romance, family-centered women's fiction, erotic romance, paranormals featuring time travel, witches, space aliens, and other woo-woo things that go bump in the night. I've written about cops and killers and spies and SEALs. These days I'm having a lot of fun working on a High Risk series about former Special Ops heroes.
But here's the deal. . . Whatever genre I'm writing in, my books are all about the guys. They're tough, confident, sexy (and hot!) Alpha males who are secure enough in their own masculinity not to be threatened by equally strong, sexy women who challenge them every step of the way.
So if you enjoy fast-paced suspense novels with lots of danger and steamy sex, where the good guys win, the bad guys get punished, justice prevails in the end and the hero and heroine, after lots of hot sex, live happily ever after, then do I have a book for you!
My readers, other writers and anyone else who loves a happy ending!
PRAISE FOR CROSSFIRE
"CROSSFIRE is another suspenseful romance by JoAnn Ross that you will not want to miss. With tension that you can cut with a knife, definitely pick up CROSSFIRE and get lost in world of the Navy SEALS and FBI that only JoAnn Ross can deliver. And, for those who want to be introduced to the first book in Ross's High Risk series, I recommend you read FREEFALL (February 2008)" ~ Kate Barrabrant, Romance Reviews Today.
"The plot is riveting, the characters sizzle and the ending will blow you away. Not only do the pages singe with passion, but they detonate with heart-stopping action. Trust me - you DO NOT want to miss Crossfire. But keep in mind, once you pick it up, it's impossible to put down." ~ Suzanne Tucker, Fresh Fiction.
"A can't-put-down-forget-the-housework-cereal-for-dinner book. The chemistry between Quinn and Cait screams off the page and practically singes your fingers. . . . Make room on your keeper shelf for this one!" ~ Cat Cody, Romance Junkies.
"Strong heroines are a Ross specialty, and she doesn't disappoint here. This is a great read for those wanting thrills and chills." ~ Jill Smith, RT Book Reviews

You're son was very lucky. From what I've heard, a Dell is great as long as it works. But if it breaks down...? You're in big trouble. We spent 11 days talking to over 25 people trying to get our system replaced when nothing else would work! They did troubleshooting, sent out techs (some of which didn't show up!) It was a nightmare... they had me crying on the phone I was so stressed because they just wouldn't listen! I finally got a nice person who is sending me a new tower, so we'll see how that works! If not, I'll be joining you with a Mac!!!
On a bright note, I'm nearly finished with Crossfire! I found it in Des Moines finally. For some reason, I can't find it in my hometown! I bought Freefall here just fine! Can't wait to get home at read the rest!!!
Oh my God! Do you have a Christmas book coming out in November? I was on Shopping on Barnes and Noble this morning and I saw a book entitled “Silver Bells”, but I don't see it listed on here. If it is you could you let me know or post it, I would appreciate it and I would preorder it. I am so excited. I love Christmas books. I could never write one, though. Thanks to my preferred genre of writing, people would have to die in it. LOL
My car is too old for ethanol and my hubby thinks the ethanol will dry out the plastic parts in his engine etc. and only premium for his babies- His two Harleys and his 1995 BMW Convertible. Gas stations are competing for business now with the high costs so its one area we are doing better then others. Happy Weekend.
First, I don't have a Lexus, lol, but my tires lasted 45,000 miles before they needed changing. They were Michelin, though. Get yourself some Michelin's lady!
