Chicago native Nicki G started singing Pop/R&B music at the age of 4. Her success in music during school earned her a music scholarship from Columbia College Chicago, where she pursues studies in Vocal Performance and Music Business. In addition, she won 4 Titles from the National Dance Association.
Nicki made it to the 3rd round of American Idol 2, and also made the reinvented Star Search in April of 03--unfortunately, it got cancelled. Nicki maintained a professionals take: Its okay, everything in life happens for a reason. I will get there eventually through all my hard work! God has a different plan for me thats all!
In Mar 03 things started to look up for the singer. Her video audition performance appeared on the Wayne Brady Show for making the top 10 finalists in the Hard Rock the House talent search. In May 03 she appeared on MTVs Duets as a contestant for the Vanessa Carlton episode. Nicki is a Chicagoland regular performing everywhere! She was awarded for several open mic night competitions in the area.
04 was good to Nicki G. She performed in Feb at the MGM Grand for the USA World Showcase. LIVE on FOX News ran a feature on Nicki, covering her status as one of 5 finalists for Chicago Idol. On a separate Fox story, she was featured along with Kanye West, WGCI and ICEE Records, on "Making it Big in Chicago" on FOX News. She appeared at a Cancer benefit dance-a-thon at the University of Illinois-Champaign. Nicki penned 2 songs with the highly successful L.A.-based team Harry Maslin and Michele Maslin-Vice.
Nicki G recently finished her debut album entitled Nicki G Versatility, available at cdbaby.com, napster.com, musicmatch.com, rhapsody.com, etc., which has topped the Broadjam charts and contests everywhere. Feb 05 Nicki was appointed Grand Prize winner of all genres for her hit Caught You Lookin, in the Madison Songwriters Group annual contest. She also won the pop/rock genre and placed fourth in Hip-Hop/R&B. In April, 2005 Nicki was the featured artist for Columbia Colleges Open House held in the Auditorium Theatre. Nicki G was nominated one of the 5 finalists in the Yamaha Song Contest. July 1, 05 Nicki was deemed runner-up in Region Idol consisting of Chicagoland contestants, and was interviewed on local stations in the area.
Summer 05 was booked for Nicki. She played all over the Midwest with Georgia Street Band and the TellStars. She was featured at the Chicago Daley Plaza, Petrillo Band Shell where countless stars have performed, the Apollo Theatre, and again, on FOX News.
Fall of 05 has also been a busy season thus far. Nicki has been busy writing and recording her next album. Check out the new single "My Sweet Temptation." Nicki performed at the Athenaeum Theatre, Chicago with the 3 A Dance Collaborative, a collaboration put together by 3 Chicago dance companies. Also, besides performing locally as a solo artist and with Georgia Street Band, Nicki G was asked to perform again at the Auditorium Theatre as the featured artist in Columbia College’s Open House represtenting the entire Music Department. Nicki G will be backed by a full band, video clips, 70+ person chorus, and the Cerqua-Rivera Dance Company.
Winter 05-06 turned out to be very successful. She was asked to be a part of the Chicago based soul band, World Class Music. She was honorably mentioned again this year in the Midwest Song Contest sponsored by the Madison Songwriters’ Group for her song "Unstoppable". Also, she performed in the Region Rumble as a guest star at the Star Plaza Theatre! To wrap up the year, NICKI G VERSATILITY was deemed Top 10 Local music in 2005!!!!
Nicki is currently a dance and gymnastics instructor, professional recording artist at Studio Chicago, performer, and songwriter.
