Hi. I’m Nicholas John Bennett. I’m not a singer/ songwriter – I’m a singer who just happens to write songs. I don’t try to write anymore – I wait until I’m inspired and play some guitar, and whatever words and melody come out, whatever topic is on my mind, that’s what ends up as the song. There are no pre-penned lyrics, or structure – it’s like crying: letting all your emotion pour out.
On completion of my Music Degree and Multi Media City and Guilds, I spent the last year teaching guitar and chord theory to other artists, writing songs for other artists, putting on gigs for other artists, sound engineering for other artists and Djing at other artists’ after show parties. So, it’s great to be out there playing some gigs myself now.
In that time, I was lucky enough to work with artists including: Jamiroquai/ Avril Lavigne/ Lost Prophets/ Maroon 5/ Damien Rice/ The Fratellis/ Maximo Park/ Calvin Harris/ Kate Nash/ The Long Blondes/ Just Jack/ Young Knives/ Thirteen Senses/ Little Barrie/ Lady Souverin/ Killa Kella/ The Earlies/ Maps/ Tilly And The Wall/ The Aliens/ Kid Harpoon/ The Little Ones/ Simple Kid/ Radar/ Wolfman/ The Natives/ Mark Greany (JJ72)/ Mumm-ra/ Peter Brame (Fame Academy)/ Chris Helme (The Seahorses)/ Metric/ Marner Brown/ The Bishops/ Archie Bronson Outfit/ Iamx/ Luke Thoms as well as promotion companies, including: SJM/ Live Nation/ Eat Your Own Ears/ ATP/ X-Ray/ Knom/ Marshall Arts/ CAA/ Sinister Heart/ Chalk/ Neon/ Popstarz.
I'm rubbish at writting things about myself, so here's something from a magazine:
review taken from The Kent Gig Guide - Feb 2008 issue:
A talented musician from Folkestone has been chosen to perform at NME’s prestigious awards night, after-show party in Brixton at the end of February. Nic Bennett, 24 is quickly establishing himself as a gifted and up-coming solo performer in the county, resulting in being noticed by ‘Prestige Management’ (managers of ‘McFly’ and ‘Son of Dork’) in the process. Playing passionate indie and folk originals, the young man, who has a music degree, was also spotted by ‘All Saint’s’ producer Nevil Henry, who said this about the artist: “Nic could quite possibly end up being the biggest act I’ve ever worked with”. Nic has been singing and playing guitar since he was 16, and performing in various bands but as a solo artist, played his first gig in August last year. The experimental musician will be playing alongside Wakefield’s popular indie band ’The Cribs’ (DJ Set) at the Brixton Jamm and Nic is excited to say the least. Details about the gig can be found on; www.myspace.com/nicbennett
As well as being busy with the NME gig, Nic is currently recording songs with the help of Henry and local producer Dan Lucas at The Manor Studio for the album ‘This is 6th form poetry, not Keates or Yates’, which will be available soon.

Pablo Picasso
"I THINK I SHOULD HAVE NO OTHER MORTAL WANTS, IF I COULD ALWAYS HAVE PLENTY OF MUSIC. IT SEEMS TO INFLUSE STRENGHTH INTO MY LIMBS, AND IDEAS INTO MY BRAIN. LIFE SEEMS TO GO ON WITHOUT EFFORT, WHEN I AM FILLED WITH MUSIC"
