NEW KICKS AT GYPSY CO-OP began in October of 2003,
Basically as a way for three good friends and business partners to keep up on their shoe collections, have a good time and play music for and with their friends…such as THE 2 SWIFT HOUSEHOLD, who alongside DJ FATHOM rocked the house into the morning
EVERY DAMN WEDNESDAY!
B-boy culture has always played an important role in NEW KICKS, from the name itself, to the vibe inside, to the music on the turntables, to the many graffiti art shows included in the events of the evening and the sneakers hanging from the ceiling, but most importantly on the dance floor… NEW KICKS has been the proud home of some of the finest B-Boy’s in the country, such as BENZO (BAG OF TRIX), B-BOY JEDI (READY TO ROCK), HEIST (READY TO ROCK), CUEROCK (READY TO ROCK) and many others crushing the dancefloor.
FATHOM was forced to find a new partner on the one’s and two’s.
Enter DJ SERIOUS…
A seasoned veteran in the game, DJ SERIOUS stepped up to the plate. Bringing not only his deep crates, encyclopedia-like musical knowledge and on-point skills, but also a warm vibe that any real hip-hop head could enjoy.
Since his arrival, in this writers humble opinion…Thing’s got taken to a whole new level.
FATHOM and SERIOUS make a deadly duo, each one pushing the other to progress the music in new directions.
NEW KICKS has been a home to many shows as well,
