In these recent times, it has become necessary to take the extra effort to make things happen. Our local music scene has suffered tremendously since nine eleven. Many of the beach clubs that used to offer live music, are no more. The pay scale for local musicians hasn't changed for 20 years. No one is doing anything to help the musicians or the patrons who love live music. In an effort to help, we are proposing to start a FREE Musician Referral Service. The concept of this organization is to have a comprehensive listing of all the local musicians.
The information on the individual profiles would include: contact info, top 3 talents and top three music styles of each member. We would then list members in the category of their number one talent. This would list all the guitarists together, all the drummers together, bass, keys and so on... This would provide invaluable information to anyone seeking a certain type of player/band.
As an organization, we would encourage public support of music events and local gigs. There is strength in numbers and we could stand to protect members from double bookings, short pay, unscrupulous club owners, society presidents, unfair treatment from agents plus any other music related issues we can support.
Eventually we hope to sponsor events and projects to further the careers of professional players from this area. The MUSICO-OP will be posted on the website and ALL musicians will be free to fill out their profile and add it to the listings, as well as use the listings to find players and network. Volunteers will be needed and appreciated. We will be working in conjunction with STAY TUNED.
