About me:
Visit me at: mariannewriter.blogspot.com---------------------
After graduating from FSU I went home for a year to save money to move to L.A. Once there, I worked as a talent agency intern, movie extra, and office temp while writing short stories on the side. In 2007 family circumstances brought me home where I proceeded to write my first novel which I finished in May. My second book is done now too, and I am seeking representation. Descriptions of these are-----------------------------------------------------------
The Journey of an Aspiring Artist ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Michelle, in search of a voice that will set her apart, falls in love with an artist whose seasoned and well-developed voice provides the enlightenment she needs to forge a story of her own based on her reaction to it. Brett, the artist, is a thief who feigns remorse for his crimes and thereby gains her trust. Michelle compromises part of herself to care for him despite the risk of getting hurt and alienating her family. However, he ends up involving her in crime, breaking her heart, and leaving her to answer for her actions. As a result, she endures a pain similar to the pain he carried in the beginning and equates it to the gain of what she originally sought – an identity of her own.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roses and Sunshine -
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A third-person version of the above, told from both Michelle's and Brett's points of view. Michelle, early twenties, seeks validation through artistic and romantic pursuits upon completing college in FL and then moving to L.A. Her failure to win one's love in addition to being victim of his crime (theft) challenges her sense of self worth. Brett is a fellow artist whose worldliness contrasts Michelle's innocence and lures her into a life she hasn't known. The ideals they supposedly shared in terms of standing out from the crowd are ultimately eclipsed by the choices they make. Only after being hurt does Michelle feel she might be able to identify with Brett's loss of innocence, but by then it's too late. Thus the irony creates a bittersweet ending in which Michelle anticipates using her experience to express herself artistically (through writing) as a means of gaining the validation she originally sought.
