Katie's Interests
General
Cooking and baking at the moment, but this too shall pass.
Aside from that, I love art...that's very broad, I know, but my tastes change from month to month. Many of you know me for my doll phase, which has passed since I had kids. People just don't look at it the same when you have actual babies and you're still doing strange things to dolls with paint and pins.
I would like to sew more, do more scanography, make some garbage art, write a book, cross stitch, make cards, make more food from scratch, paint my house, etc. but I don't really have the time to tackle it all at once. So instead I go through a month of one thing and then move on when I get bored. My mommy brain can't handle much more than that.
Currently, aside from those pursuits, I am going to a Bible study every week that is my lifeline. We also still have English Corner every Monday night.
Music
I was going to attempt to list alphabetically by genre, but then got to the list and realized it was so long it would take me all day to list them. Not that there are lots that I really love, but it's hard to remember sometimes.
I will say that my tastes have softened considerably since I had kids. I still do not like contemporary Christian music or country (bleck), but I also cannot tolerate quite so much metal. I think maybe my ears feel sorry for my kids or something.
I really like bluegrass, jazz and modern southern black gospel music (Kirk Franklin, Anthony Evans, Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, etc), although I don't hear much of it anymore - we don't have black people here, just hicks that like country and hymns :(. I love a good concert, but I haven't been to one in years. I have also grown in my love of classic rock, thanks to Mike and his dad. I still have a soft spot for music I listened to in high school, as I think most people do. Play me a little Montel Jordan, Chubawumba, Savage Garden, TLC...okay, nearly anything popular in the 90s (except maybe boy bands and Brittany Spears)...and I am happy. Nostalgia can count for a lot.
Movies
I once had a list...but it's changed a bit now. Like music, my taste in movies has changed since I had kids. I'm not as into some movies anymore just because I realized that I wouldn't really want my kids watching them.
Some old favourites that haven't budged, though, are Mystery Men, Master of Disguise, Rocketman, Yellow Submarine, O Brother Where art Thou?, Empire Records, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Princess Bride and Arsenic and Old Lace. I also really like BBC mini-series movies. Yeah, I know. I'm lame.
Television
Corner Gas (first four seasons on DVD...can't wait for October or whenever season five comes out), Iron Chef (the original, but I only see it if I'm lucky when I'm staying in a hotel), otherwise, I love cooking shows, but I don't have tv..sometimes I check something out from the library to get my fix, though (I've watched the same Jamie Oliver DVD about four times now).
Books
Anything by: Randy Alcorn, Ted Dekker, Lemony Snickett, Pierre Berton, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien...oh, there are lots more, but I don't feel like going through my bookcase right now.
Heroes
Janea Allen, my Daddy and my husband..they have all loved me and known exactly who I was.
This part doesn't change. :)
About me: Time for a complete overhaul, don't you think?
I'm married. (To Mike - Feb. 28, 2004)
I have kids. (Jenny Rose - June 1,2005,
Elias James - Sep. 6, 2006)
I'm pregnant. (Due June 8th, 2008)
I own my home. (It's small, but it's ours)
I drive a mini-van. (Toyotas are nice)
Life is good. (And for that, I'm thankful)
Who I'd like to meet: My Daddy's woman. And all the babies due this year (about seven more in our church, I believe..busy busy), but especially my own little munchkin.
I think he gets made at parrot cuz his swing is the fisher price rainforest and the parrot on the mobile moves but the bouncer the bird doesn't move and he keeps excepting it to move. He looks at it and cries sometimes n he looks mad.
Congrats Katie! Glad to hear he's finally out! :) Holy moley though..you've gone thru labor 3 times already and I have yet to experience it once! ...I don't have too much longer, but long enough! Take care, and hope the family is doing well. :) ~ Mandy
haha.... its so cold down here! its only in the 60s. its making me mad. the weather people are saying its going to be a colder than normal june and july! LAME! i want you to have the baby!!!!!! i want to know what it is! i want to know a name! :D i miss you so much cousin!

I miss you so much! :( I think about it all the time how I wish I could just go out for tea with you and chat. It's difficult because there aren't many people my age around here anymore; most are off at college or are starting a family somewhere far away. It makes me sad. :(
I thought that one of my other friends was phished too! The pet's game is a new application on MySpace! Check it out! (at least I was suckered into checking it out)
oh in the end it is so worth it! are you hoping for a boy or a girl? am really excited for you! yay! i wish it was closer too! i want to see the baby!!!!! :D
wow, that is such a cool site! I love it! :D I will definitely be taking full advantage of it. :) I can't wait until you can come back down and we can go to fun places together. :)
hey cuz how are you doing?? doing pretty good here in germany...missing the states like crazy though lol...there are some really cool stuff here though specially for kids...they are really big on kids here....its kind of fun cause i can be a kid mself sometimes lol....anyway hope all is well...talk to you soon!!
Katie, I don't think you know how much that helps... its hard, cause the one thing I need most, I can't really have, and that is friends. I have not kept close contact with people from Seattle, and all my friends are in Phoenix, which is not where i am. But its refreshing to know that people are still around, and people are praying, and people care.
I'm so glad to know that. :) There is an amazing tea shop in Sumner that's connected to the Windmill. They have loose teas and they are so yummy! We have a drawer of tea in our kitchen, we all drink tea in the evening together and feel much like we are from another culture. :) The white tea sounds nice, I'll have to try it!
for some reason your page isn't showing up right, weird!
anyway, thanks for the comment. :) I am also trying to drink tea instead of coffee... mainly I drink earl, black or green. :) I love tea! I was noticing I was drinking coffee too often and it was making me kind of ill. tea is much better for me though. :)
