Since the beginning, surfing has been an expression unique t the individual. What was once a self-stylized sport and a symbol of individuality and personal freedom has been, in large part, hijacked and exported to the masses. Now the core of surfing, the custom surfboard is becoming a thing of the past as shapers are pushed out by big money & shaping machines. Some of the most expensive boards in the world are being “tuned” and glassed by people that have never surfed or even seen a wave break…
Our company refuses to bow down to the globalization of the surfboard industry. Shaper/ owner/ surfer Jake Moss uses diligent and systematic “research” in creating his tailor-made boards. “My purpose as a shaper is to articulate the surfer’s vision in
creating the ideal equipment for any given approach.” Jake has refined 20 years of surfing experiences and rider feedback into these main templates that serve as a starting point for the custom process. Each design is tailored to individual specifications and
surfing conditions.
Moss Research Surfboards is a limited production boutique specializing in the custom board for touring professionals, traveled veterans, and collectors alike. Every board is shaped, inspected and fine-tuned by master shaper Jake Moss. This level of attention to quality and detail has earned Moss Research a reputation for creating some of the most sought-after boards in the world. Hand crafted in America, each board is constructed of the finest materials with a commitment to the highest level of performance. The result is a specialty product with a uniqueness and appeal that cannot be mass produced or duplicated anywhere.
