| About Morrison Brothers Band |
The Morrison Brothers Band from Charlottesville, VA started in 1998 as an outlet for Jim Morrison and sons, Will and Owen, to blend their various musical styles and tastes. Since then, the band has grown into one of the most sought-after dance bands in the Southeast. The three musicians are great fans of traditional music and can present the subtleties of numerous traditions from Western Ireland to West Virginia. However, with the band's characteristic drum set and electric guitar, the Morrison Brothers often incorporate bits of rock, blues and swing to create one of the most exciting and driving sounds in the contra world today.
The Morrison Brothers have been the featured band at many contra dance weekends and events including Gypsy Meltdown (Charlotte, NC), Springforth Ball (Richmond, VA), What the Hey (Atlanta), Bogue Banks Boogie (Outer Banks, NC), Contradancer's Delight Holiday (Morgantown, WV) and the Dawn Dance Weekend (Ann Arbor, MI.) Jim and Owen are also regular musicians and instructors for dance weeks in various camps around the country including Pinewoods in Plymouth, MA and CCDS in Berea, KY.
