Gathering influences from a wide range of artists, Mora Marie has created a scintillating sound that brings a vivacious female voice to vibrant metal guitars. Coming from a small town filled with ska music, they have been able to build a unique sound that differs from anything in Manhattan. Coming from backgrounds of alternative rock, metal, and the classical style, Mora Marie has found a way to mold those genres into their own sound. With hard hitting riffs and uncanny melodies that keeps the audience’s attention and interest.
Origins of Mora Marie:
Kate, an aspiring artist and poet, plus Joe Griffiths, an amazing drummer, Dustin Wilson and Dane, using their axes as super weapons to blast away foes and Elijah Stevens (bassist that can count) starting anew, writing with a little different style over the summer 2008, Mora Marie is once again ready to thrive!
After forming the band in March 2007, Mora Marie has accomplished a great deal and has undergone many changes. Covering not only Manhattan, they have traveled to Junction City, Riley, Topeka, Lawrence, Baldwin City, Kansas City, and Wichita. With a great intention of traveling and entering a wide range of the Midwest music scene. When Mora Marie was only a band for 2 weeks, they entered the Kansas State Battle of the Bands and claimed second place and in the Riley county battle claimed first. They also claimed second place at the Opus Battle of the Bands. After being a band for six months, they released their first seven song EP. Mora Marie is a hard working, dedicated and fast working band with the intentions of vast accomplishments.

Their live shows are nothing less than exhilarating and nonstop entertainment full of energy, head banging, back flips in the middle of the set and jumping around. With all this high energy motion, Mora Marie does not lose their ability to play their music to perfection. They love to put on a thrilling show that the audience can enjoy and brings them back at future shows. Mora Marie wants nothing less than to bring unique music to everyone’s ear and spread their word to numerous people around the Midwest, and eventually the nation. I support all brave women who walk the jagged path of broken glass in the almost exclusively men-in-metal world. Much respect to you my fellow lyricist. Also, what my bassist means to say (by “rappish metal”) is that I (we) incorporate rap into our otherwise Metal regimen. Rapcore, as it came to be known, was “invented” in the 80’s by bands like The Clash. The most memorable meshing of the genres being (in my opinion) when Aerosmith and Run DMC wrote “Walk This Way.” I would say our band is more metal than rapcore but that could be argued.
