I would like to give particular thanks to Dan Reid (rockstar productions) and Gordon Mills (no1 Brackenhurst) for their great musicianship and production skills over our time of working together. I cannot recommend these guys enough. Checkout my website www.moodymcardle.com to listen to more songs and get contact details.
Also a big thank you to another great musician & producer, Andy Holdsworth for being such a good friend and all the help from playing gigs to all the other bits and bobs. A true legend!
My very great friend and guitar supremo Anthony Clayton for being with me through thick and thin.
For all the critique and advice from my genius hellraiser soul mate, Anthony White Jnr, who has been an inspiration since we met.
Stevin Tedstone, my best friend from back home in Donegal who started this journey with me. A fellow kindred spirit still doing his thing 'round Dublin.
I would also like to thank the very special talent Ian 'chopper' Cotteril (who for my money is still the best drummer I have heard) and his cohorts John and Jen from Blusher.
Thanks also to Theo Pilgrim, Jamie Brewer, Joe Mahon and Steve Ancliffe, who were there for some of the way. So all the best to you guys.
I am aware this is starting to sound like an Oscar speech, so I will stop now before I start to blub!
Influences
Who knows? The world around me? Alright, I'll stop being a smart arse. Here goes in no particular order, stream of consciousness type thing...Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, Matt Deighton, Dougie MacLean, The Beatles, Christy Moore, U2, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Morrissey, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Neil Diamond, The The, AC/DC, Kings of Leon, Kate Bush, Sly & the Family Stone Joni Mitchell, The Band, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Flaming Lips, The Kinks, Michelle Shocked, Beach Boys, Bee Gees, Joseph Arthur, Sinead O'Connor, Nick Cave (& the Bad Seeds), Barry Adamson, Areatha Franklyn, Marvin Gaye, Jeff Buckley, Tim Buckley, Bruce Springsteen, The Waterboys, Ray Charles, John Coltrane, Rod Stewart, Simon & Garfunkel, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, Eurythmics, Altan, 4 Men & a Dog, Moving Hearts, Planxty, Jane's Addiction, Grandaddy, Damien Rice, James Brown, Van Morrison, Smokey Robinson, Rolling Stones, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Ennio Morricone, John Barry, David Arnold, John Williams, Led Zepplin, Guns'n'Roses, Billy Bragg, The Clash (Joe Strummer grabbed my balls once), Coldplay, Keane, Snow Patrol, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, Parliament, Neil Young...I should go on, but my little brain is starting to fail me. I will probably add to this in the middle of the night as I wake up with horror and realise some more favourites I have neglected to put up are scrambling for attention in the dark corners of my mind. Feel free to pull me up on anyone you feel should be here, if you have that much time on your hands. Can I just say to those I have included (and yet to be put up) thanks for all the good times and what you have added to my life.
For wings to fly and air to grace our every move. We do what we can with what we say. Somewhere one day we hope to find a bit of meaning in what we try. A few words and an old set of strings gives a voice to me to tell you my things. A part of a journey for what it means, but it's a life that's living for everything.
'It doesnt get much better than this. Gruff sounding, blues folk with a smooth hint of sublime texture' says South London music emporium the Acoustic Lounge. Though a native of Ireland, Moody McArdle has been described as one of the best young songwriters in London. Playing on the citys music circuit he has become a popular performer not only for his passionate approach but his comfortable stage presence. His brand of ballsy balladeering is a suitable counterpoint for the buoyant acoustic scene. As a live vocalist there is a rare mixture of vulnerability and power. His soulful, slightly husky, slightly smooth delivery is both effortless and emotive.
Moody McArdle has been working in a Regional Secure Psychiatric Unit for the past ten years while trying to get the right interest for what he hopes will be a long lasting career in music. He has over 200 songs to date and about the same again in unfinished material.
Moody McArdle is an artist for those who prefer their music to have an emotional quality and something to say, whether that be the grand subjects of the global stage or everyday matters. Human character is at its heart.
As a solo artist and with his electric outfits Darko and Solar Republic he has been a regular on many of Londons most prestigious and popular venues over the past few years including the Underworld (Camden), Kashmir Klub (Baker Street), The Bedford (Balham), 12 Bar Club (Denmark St.), The Water Rats (Kings Cross), Union Chapel (Islington) and the Acoustic Lounge in Clapham to name but a few. >
