Hi Folks :)
Looks like I am the new kid on the block here. WOW, some great talent here at the music portion of myspace. After seeing and hearing several of the fine musicians here, that was the main thing that attracted me to this place!! I liked it so well that I thought I would take out a page here in the music section and join in the fun with adding some of my home spun projects.
A little aboout me, then on to some projects I have worked on lately. I am presently in Mississippi (grew up in Alabama), married, have 2 lovely daughters, and 2 small companies, but I still try to make a little time for writing, collabing, and playing live on a local locally, ...but most recently I have been spending most of my free time in my home studio doing writer's demo projects and working with some great local writer friends and "E" Friends from the internet. This technology with home recording and hi speed exchange of files is amazing. It still does not take the place of that feeling of playing in a live band when a groove gets tight, but it makes a close second. I am amazed through these internet recordings of all the fine people I have made "E" contact with and actually recorded tracks together, and never met a one of them live. WOW... amazing I tell you :)
The following are some recent projects I have worked/mixed on lately. Some I did all the instruments on, and some I just played guitar on along with musician friends from the internt joining in.
"Cut'N Heads" ...is a tune where I rounded up a bunch of internet music friends and gave each a time slot to play in. They recorded their part, Emailed it to me, then I mixed it. I kick started it with me playing the first guitar slot and the twin leads, then the rest of the slots are just music friends from around the world that wanted to jam on a tune in a collab effort. It even adds a little Cajun slot in one spot with JC's accordian. How a cajun ended up in England I never know, but he is fun to pick with. Some of these guys have some great chops, and they were a blast to play with.
"Internet Project 3" is a song that you can read all about it and several of my internet blues playing friends that I rounded up to play in this one, by going to: www.soundclick.com/BluesForumCollabs It has all their/our info, links to players pages, and names there. (plus some bonus listens) Another fun Internet project.
"Aint Misbehaving" ...is a tune I just finished up this week. My blues Friend in Texas (Don Carroll) joined me in a internet collab effort on this one. He took care of all that fine sax playing you hear. I did the organ, guitar, and drums. Speaking of drums, some of you are very familar with "Ben Smith", the drums you are hearing are actually sample waves of his actual drum set that I triggered by hand playing them on my keyboard, ....now only if I could play those wav bits like Ben (grin) ...oh and who is the piano player? Lets just give credit there to "Cat in the blender" for that fine work (grin)
"A Train Came Down" This is a tune that was actually penned by Gary Nicholson. When Gary has time, he hangs out with a bunch of us pickers, singers, and music net heads at a music hosting site ( soundclick.com) We pooled efforts and all pitched in to record this tune over the internet by each making a track by playing along or singing their part to an initial guitar/vocal/click track, and then emailing or posting it at the host site. Then after everyone sent in their individual tracks, I took them all in , mixed them, and came up with this. It was pretty cool recording a project with several folks from all over the world. There were 6 of us involved in this internet music project. It opened up a great avenue to create music on a now global basis for us as we use the internet as our communication and hooking up port. Contributors to this project was Louie Mcneal (Kentucky), Erin Simms (UK), Morris Rainville (Canada), and Gary Nicholson (England), and myself Vic Bonner (Mississippi)
I am having a blast working with other musicians/writers with post and pre production, ....and as time permits, I always like keeping at least one project going on the internet with other musicians doing some collab writing and recording. If you are a home recording novice and musician also and have a home recording setup, holler at me, I always like getting involved with internet music projects along the lines of Country, Christian, Gospel, Blues, Light Jazz and some of the Southern Rock and Pop that was popular back in the late 70's and early 80's. If that sounds like genres that interest you also, then holler at me, maybe we could trade out some tracks, or start a project from scratch.
Hey thanks a lot for clicking in to my music!!!
Have Fun!!!
Vic
