Miranda Lambert Surprised With Gold Album

By Beverly Keel
Tennesseean.com
Sony BMG Nashville's Joe Galante and Butch Waugh surprised Miranda Lambert backstage Friday night before her LP Field show with a gold plaque for her album "Crazy Ex Girlfriend," which won ACM's 2008 Album of the Year.
When she saw it, she said, "I've been waiting for this!
Galante said, "And you got it!" Lambert said, "It's so amazing! Oh my goodness, look at it, that's awesome."
Galante said this is her second gold record and she's sold about 1.5 million albums. (Her first, "Kerosene," went platinum.) "We are just about to have our biggest charting record. In our opinion the best days lie ahead of her." He attributed much of her success to touring, with support coming from radio airplay.
When asked how it felt to receive this at CMA Music Fest, she said, "The fans are what gives me a job. Besides a job, which I have a great job, they give me Album of the Year and a gold record. It’s amazing... It’s a special place for me to say thank you to the people who allow me to have something like this."
"Gunpowder and Lead," which is at No. 12, is her best-charting single of her career, topping two songs that reached No. 13. "'Gunpowder and Lead' is probably my most controversial song I put out and it's my highest." She said she's hoping to land her first Top 10 hit.
When asked if she had advice to contestants on "Nashville Star," the former Top 3 finalist said, "Good luck! It’s really great if you don’t win, no big deal. It worked out for me getting third place.”
When asked how she coped with tonight's big show, she joked, "Cocktails help! I really have just gotten comfortable with my live show because I have an amazing band. I know I usually mess up and they cover me so nobody knows it happened. LP Field is so huge. I think this must be how Kenny Chesney feels every night. It’s a huge rush having that many people singing along and listening to you."
She said she has a new dog named Hank thanks to her boyfriend, Blake Shelton. "Blake actually rescued this dog without my knowledge. He texted me on the road, 'Here’s our new dog, Hank."
She's started writing for her new album. "No pressure, just this one was Album of the Year. What am I going to do now? It’s definitely going to be different because I’m different in my life right now."
"Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" Wins Album of the Year at ACM's

Miranda Lambert took home Album of the Year honors for her critically acclaimed sophomore effort “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” when the Academy of Country Music Awards were handed out Sunday, May 18 live in Las Vegas.
As a newer artist with somewhat limited success on the country airplay chart, Miranda was certain Kenny Chesney would be taking home the album of the year prize at the ACMs.
"I've never had a Top 10 hit, so I just kind of ruled out album of the year," she said. "Just being nominated for it was amazing."
However, Lambert's album sales have been surprisingly high in the absence of a huge hit at radio.
"I've been really blessed to walk the fine line between being critically acclaimed and also having commercial success -- because that's rarely done," she said. "I always reference the Dixie Chicks and Dwight Yoakam for doing that." Giving special credit to her album producers, Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke, Lambert said, "I'm so appreciative for people to accept me for what I am. I am a little left of center, and I surround myself with people who think that way. Because of those people, they say to me that it's OK to be who I am."
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, debuted at 1 on the Nielsen SoundScan Country Chart and 6 on the Top 200 Albums Chart. The album also entered the country digital albums chart at 1.

Lambert Family Introduces Red 55 Winery
Rick and Beverly Lambert are proud to introduce Red 55 Winery, honoring their daughter Miranda. A good deal of time went into developing the private wine label, and the reason is simple: The Lambert's believe in families working hard together and celebrating success when it finally comes. Just like wine, the music industry offers no overnight sensations. Many years of hard work go into the product the public ultimately experiences. For that reason, the Lambert's have partnered with the family of LouViney Vineyards to bottle wines worthy to put Miranda’s name on. This family-owned vineyard exemplifies the very values that Miranda and her family honor. With each of the six wines offered on Miranda’s Red 55 label, they trust you will taste and experience the time, effort and love that goes into every bottle. The Lambert family hopes you will experience the great pride that comes from working hard and celebrating success together in your own family. They thank you for enjoying a bit of their success with them.
Please look at the Lone Star Red 55 Winery lineup that not only celebrates the spirit of Miranda but also her award-winning music.
Two new wines now available: County Road 233 Merlot and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Sweet White. For a description of each wine, pricing, and shipping information, please visit Miranda's Web Site. Biography
I'm a singer songwriter from Texas and I act like one. I've been playing and writing professionally since I was 17. No matter what I'm singing, I want to say something that makes people think. I want people to hear my songs and feel something. I want to be appreciated as someone whose music is REAL. I am thrilled with the success of my new album. I wrote 11 of the 12 cuts and my label gave me full creative freedom.
I usually say exactly what I think, which gets me in trouble most of the time. I love touring with my band but I miss home. I have a house on the lake in the country next to my parents. We are an extremely close family. I have one brother, Luke, who is 18. He's the cool one in the family. My parents are pretty cool too and when they're not helping me they are private investigators. I have a black lab named Dixie and she's 2.
When I'm not touring I love: Riding my four wheeler, playing with the dogs (mom has 2 labs), listening to music, picken' on the porch with family and friends, eating- I LOVE to eat so I have to work out, which I don't love! I also love to hunt and camp and just about anything outside.
That's about it in a nutshell. You can read my "official bio" on my website. I'll check in when I can.
