About me: In 1998 I became the first Latino elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 8th Assembly District. I have been an advocate for education and health care, and take pride in providing a role model to immigrants in my district and around the state. I serve on the Committee on Highway Safety and the Joint Committee on Finance in the legislature. I am member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association and the National Association of Latino Elected Officials where I serve on the Board of Directors. I was named one of the Top 40 under 40 by the Milwaukee Business Journal in 1998 and in April 2005 received the Spirit of Marquette Award- For Achievement Before 40 from Marquette University.
