Miles Apart are a group of young and upcoming multi-instrumentalists from various places all over England (hence the name) who love bluegrass. They met at Sore Fingers Summer Schools, a bluegrass course of wondrousness (www.sorefingers.co.uk). A couple of years later, after a weekend spent together playing music, playing Frisbee and playing their first gig which resulted from a quick go at busking, they decided to enter the BBC Young Folk Awards... unfortunately they didn't get through. There set consists of a lot of original material as well as tastefully arrange covers.
If you want to contact us about gigs etc. drop us an email at miles-apart@hotmail.co.uk

2 of 230, walkaboutsverse.741.com: WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Hi Charlotte, Yeah - pretty good stuff - well done. Is this the format you took into the studio a few weeks ago? You're still playing mando though aren't you? Ali
Prof. Stenny here, and I'd just like to give everyone a few updates on the show and school.
First off, I apologize for taking so long to update the site, and get this update out, but lets just say that school has me running in circles right now. That being said, it's been an exciting late Summer/early Fall for Folk U. We now have two full time cohosts on staff, so we let me now officially welcome Dr. Roosevelt (Professor of Historionics) and Mr. MacGuyver (Board of Regents) to the Folk U fold.
We have alot of new alums here at Folk U, and we would like to thank all of them for being a part of our family. These include (in chronological order): The Blind Corn Liquor Pickers, PooBah, Greensky Bluegrass, Ricky Beevers, Shadowdancer, Aaron Davis & Seadar Rose, Kerry Pruitt of The Lost River Cavemen, and Jamie Barnes.
If any of you are (or are going to be) in the area of Bowling Green, KY some Monday night, get in touch with me through this page, and we'll set up an interview or in-studio performance.
We also love keeping up with area shows, so if you have any concerts in the State of Kentucky, Nashville and Memphis areas, or even up in Cincinnati or Indianapolis, just drop me a line and I'll post it on here, as well as announce it on air.
Also, we're always accepting new music submissions, send me a message for address and other details.
