| About Mikey D Music |
Michael Patrick Dougherty was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fl to proud parents Charles and Kerry. He spent his first year in Fort Lauderdale before moving out to the suburban Sunrise, Fl.
His mother's side of the family was very musical. Mike grew up watching his mother play guitar and sing (in perfect harmony) with her sisters. It was this early exposure to music, that created his own passion for it. One year, Kerry and Charles bought him a guitar for his birthday. That could quite possibly be the best gift he'd ever received.
During the middle school years, Mike began learning how to write and play music along with his close friends in the New Testament Baptist Church "Youth Force" band. It was from this group of musicians that Mike was able to become the bass player for the band "Free4all" and for a short time, the manager of a band called "Paradox".
During high school, Mike quit all band ventures and began working on his own music. Many of his early solo songs were parodies such as "The Elian Song", a parody of Elian Gonzalez. Mike continued to work with close friend and former Youth Force band member, Jacob Kaetterhenry. Jacob and Mike created "So Tight Studios", a make-shift recording studio where the guys would help each other produce and record their music.
The last few years were major developmental years for Mike as a songwriter. He's written more songs this year than ever before, and is anxious to get them out to the public and stuck in the heads of many.
Mike spends his summers in Rainy Lake, Mn. He believes it to be the most beautiful place on earth, and gains much of his inspiration from his close friends and family that resides there. His "Rainy Lake Anthem" is available for download in the MUSIC section of this website.
Currently, Mike is living in Orlando Florida attending Valencia Community College. He plays regular coffee house-style shows around the UCF area, He is working on getting some professional recording time, as well as exposure beyond the Orlando area.
