At the risk of loosing my street cred (that is if I have any) I'd have to say the first person to influence me musicaly was my mother. I remember her singing through the house and me playing a broom like it was a guitar. She was a fantastic singer and not just according to me, Decca Records thought so as well and that’s probably why they signed her, unfortunately a short time later she was diagnosed with breast cancer and passed in to spirit she was 23, she was born, Shpressa Dhimitri but she performed under the name 'Vicki Lynn'. It is mainly because of her that I went on to discover;
Elvis,
Little Richard,
Fats Domino,
The Everly Brothers,
The Platters, and
just about every Do-wop group,
The Supremes,
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles,
Martha and the Vandellas,
James Brown,
The Temptaions,
The Four Tops,
Marvin Gaye,
Otis Redding,
Peter Paul and Mary,
Bob Dylan,
The Rightous Brothers,
The Isley Brothers,
Steve Wonder,
The Byrds,
Buffalo Springfield,
The Beatles,
Joe Cocker,
The Young Rascals,
The Rolling Stones.
The Animals.
Roy Orbison,
The Beach Boys,
Led Zepplin,
Santana,
Jimi Hendrix,
Cream,
Jethro Tull,
Yes,
Johny Cash,
The Allman Brothers,
The Eagles,
Jesse Colin Young,
Waylon Jennings,
George Jones,
Dean Martin,
Sarah Vaughn,
Cat Stevens,
Crosby Stills Nash and Young,
Joni Mitchell,
James Taylor,
America,
Seals and Crofts
There are many more great artists that I have enjoyed listening to but I think the ones listed above have had the most influence on my writng and or my performance
I have been writing, playing and performing since I was 14 possibly younger, and have been very fortunate to have worked with a few of the legends in our business. My main musical instrument is my voice but I play guitar, bass, keys, drums and percussion. I got side tracked for a while(12years) where I found myself making a living in the acting world quite by accident but I've come to the end of that and now I feel its time to get back to what I do the best, sing my songs. I am right at home with most styles and don't like to limit my self to any one particular voice. I find that the song always dictates how it should be sung and played.
I never really knew much about my family background or history until about 10 years ago when I had a conversation with my father who I hadn't seen for 20 years and just before he passed. I am Native American (Míkmaq) and Greek and although I was not raised in either of those traditions I have done my best as an adult to honor and embrace my heritage. I was born in Selma Alabama. My father moved around a lot but he eventually settled in New England. As an adult I've lived in Canada, Ireland, Greece and Wales. I am delighted to be back home in the states.
My new Album (CD) is called 'This Is Me' Thanks for stopping by.

Music and Dance comes from inside... dear Michael Dimitri... love is by far a very good instrument... sharing your dreams with friends is a good lyrics
I haven't said hi in eons! Today I wanted to send a hug to you and hope all is going well in your life Michael.
I wanted to say thank you to you, because of my interest and enjoyment of your music (specially midlife crisis!) introduced me to an organization 'One Spirit' that I occasionally donate to. I never did get the mp3, but it didn't matter because that isn't really why I gave to them.
Seems some in the Lakota tribe are having a rough time and I am honored in helping them as I can.
Thanks again Michael for bringing this organization and needs of this tribe to the fore front.
Its been so long I hope all is well with you & your beautiful Heartside. I'm lamenting tomorrow and my thoughts/voices told me to come and say hello and wish you well. Just wanted to say what a fantastic positive effect you and Athena have had on my life. Sometimes I think it was all to brief but then again I know that its the way things are meant to be. I still mean to come over there with my Heartside and baby son Finn Little Bear.

Aanii, just thought I would stop by and wish you a wonderful 4th of July. I hope you have a lot of fun, be safe and please take time out of your day to remember our troops that are protecting us here at home,so that we have time to be with our family and friends and for so many that have given their lives for us, both past and present.
