CHECK OUT MERIDIANWEST IN THE DECEMBER ISSUE OF SPIN MAGAZINE!!!! PG. 72
Brilliant Magazine chose MERIDIANWEST as the "Cool Band" in the Cool edition for Austin, TX.
MWEST picked to listen to in Fave Mag
"7 in 07" Local Bands Poised for the Big Time reads the feature headline on the cover of the March issue of the Austin Monthly. Playing With Fire reads the headline for meridianwest's feature story in the article which is a title well accepted by the band. It is nice to open a magazine to a full page about your band were in the opening line reads "It has the makings of a rock 'n' roll fairy tale" followed later by "powerful songwriting and cathartic live shows". We would like to thank everyone that has helped make this experience such a grand adventure for us and to the people closely related to our growth.
Influences
Jeff Buckley, Led Zeppelin, U2, Muse, Ryan Adams, The Police, Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, and David Gray, to list a few.
In an era of music where it has become the norm to have five members in a band, meridianwest has managed to create a giant wall of sound as a trio. With Mark Gibson on vocals/guitars, Ryan Magnani on bass guitar, and David Kittredge on the drums, each member's contributions are a powerful representation of their respective instruments and personalities. As talented as they are as individual musicians, it is when they come together on stage and play where they create an overall sound that is staggeringly unique. They have successfully combined the rawness and simplicity of the great rock bands from the 60's and 70's, with large atmospheric landscapes created by the artists of the 80's. Although meridianwest is constantly striving to create new sounds and types of songs, one element stays the same; they progressively become better musicians and songwriters with each song. Catch them in small clubs and music venues while you still can, because this band will not be contained in small spaces much longer.
