"its 4 tracks reflect a confident diversity of influences, which create a refreshing sound...In a year when the likes of Nine Black Alps have achieved great success, it appears with this EP that Men In Caves can offer a fresher, more assorted and less contrived alternative to the grunge resurgence." more... Concrete Magazine
"...a breezy West Coast vibe...It's not very often that you get rock shanties with muscle (no pun intended)- and they're done well here in a Nirvana VS Decemberists way." more... Artrocker
"Lead Singer Tom Brindle has a beautiful and strong voice, frequently angst filled and emotion saturated. The accompanying band strike up a bold grungy rock sound, which is well structured and highly polished.
Stand out tracks for me are ‘Am I The One?’ which is a bluesesque yet jazzy toe tapper and ‘Why Did You Bring Me Here?’ for its slowly increasing tension to a head bashing climax before dropping away into meak exhausted heap. Great finisher" more... Liquor Is Quicker Magazine
"An enjoyable romp through the raw passionate delivery of kelly jones via a slightly modified Nirvana (if they’d been listening to post-punk funkiness)…" Subba-Culture
"The Caveolae EP from Cov band Men in Caves impresses with its polished and melodic, yet unrestrained, sound. Before you realise its happening, your subconscious will be oo-oo-ing along with standout track Spiders." Cathryn Newbery, Warwick Boar
"With up beat and well paced songs, Men in Caves are a powerful trio who manage to make lots of noise and movement for just three guys. Their set was full of distinctive and unrelenting lyrics and vocals, finishing with the set with the haunting melody of Why Did You Bring Me Here?" Dan Searles, BBC online

We are Men in Caves, thanks for coming...
We are a band of three, now scattered evenly over this fair shire.
Band titbits:- Tom
is currently an archaeologist. He likes muddy holes and hidden temples. Tom also likes to mimic 1960s rock icons in front of mirrors. Parts of his face do not reflect. It is rumoured that Tom can shatter street lamps with his stare. His dislikes include spiders, wearing suits and Ross phoning him up pretending to be important members of the Record Industry. An interesting fact: Brindle is a place in Lancashire, a colour, and is also a type of Indian Aubergine.
Ross currently enjoys a low profile job within the music industry (aside from his role in Men in Caves). He dislikes sobriety. He likes drinking games, elaborate birthday celebrations and phoning Tom up pretending to be important members of the Record Industry.
An interesting fact: Whilst travelling in Laos Ross mistakenly got onto a bus driven by local drugs and weapons smugglers, thinking it was his coach. This is true. Luckily for Men in Caves he lived to tell the tale. (Some of the drug dealers are now on the mailing list).
Pete is currently a molecular biologist, or a nuclear physicist or some other sort of scientist so important and top secret that Tom and Ross arent quite sure what he does. Despite such elevations, it is his life ambition to own a teashop and some cats. An interesting fact: Pete is by far the tallest member of the band, a giant at 6 ft 7½. There was talk of lowering him into a trench before each gig to create the illusion that he is the same height as the others. However, current EU health & safety laws prohibit this.

Quickpost this image to Myspace, Digg, Facebook, and others! Saturday 10th May 2007 CASTNETS - JESSE SYKES - BRENDAN CASEY £6 /£8 Door Doors 8pm til 2am
CASTANETS: Castanets is American music drowned then reborn clear-eyed and wet with sea spray. Castanets is murderous nights and the 10 west sunset and crying gulls. Castanets is Raymond Raposa. Castanets is Raymond Raposa alone, walking through the dark and crowded dancefloor, singing bare voiced (rangy, high, cracked and real) with acoustic guitar. Castanets is a four-piece or a five-piece, six-piece, seven-piece, all-of-us-everywhere-piece stomping out electric tombstone chants or something that sounds like Pink Floyd with more heart. Castanets is delta heart, Nashville hands, outer space brain. Castanets is Cathedral (Asthmatic Kitty, 2004)
JESSE SYKES The band that started as a duo of Jesse Sykes and former Whiskeytown band member Phil Wandscher began writing and playing together and later brought on the rest of the Sweet Hereafter, as they are now known. The new album sees Sykes displaying a more weathered vocal style and the band a more produced sound. There are some really upbeat tunes on the album like “You Might Walk Away” and “I Like The Sound”. With the latter bringing to mind a Grace Slick sound and the former with a tipping of the cap to Cat Power.
