| About Memphis Belle |
Memphis Belle is a rock and roll band hailing from the Southern California desert, striving to return the heart and soul from days of old to today's music. Drawing upon many influences--including classic rock, punk, blues, and indie music--they have merged the sound of a dying era with modern-day appeal. This combination produces a truly unique sound of energetic, guitar-driven rock that, when combined with a passionate, captivating live show, leaves the audience enthralled.
Edwin Ortiz (guitar, vocals) and Jeremiah Johns (bass) formed the band in early 2003 with the help of Daniel Schaaff (lead guitar, bgv), formerly of Dizmas and Custom Deluxe. Randy Baranosky(drums), joined shortly thereafter, and JR Goleno joined to fill the role of bass in late 2005. The summer of 2005 proved to be eventful for Memphis Belle, releasing their debut full length "Faith, Hope, Rock 'n' Roll," playing such festivals as Tomfest and Joshua Fest, being featured on the Extreme Tour, and gaining
national exposure through a serious road accident that left Edwin with a broken back and the rest of the band shaken. Despite losing their van, trailer, gear, and money, they overcame this hardship and resumed their tour within just three weeks.
In 2006 the band undertook an amazing nine month straight touring spree across the States, including performances at GMA, Cornerstone Festival, Joshua Fest, and numerous bars and clubs. The year saw the band secure their reputation as one of the hardest working independent bands in America. After returning from the tour the band recorded a new four song ep entitled “No One Gets Out Alive.” It was produced by John Howard of Dizmas(emi) and mixed by Nick Baumhart of Thousand Foot Krutch(Tooth and Nail Records). The album has been receiving great reviews and the initial pressing quickly sold out on the bands summer tour. After hit performances once again at this years Joshua Fest and Cornerstone festival the band is about to undergo a fall tour in support of the new ep as well as working on new material. Several new songs will be debuted on the upcoming tour.
