Hi everyone !
I'm Mel, I'm french, 23 and I come from Normandy in the north of France. I stayed there during about 18 years, moving from flats to flats, going away from the Ocean, each time leaving for a bigger city. I was born close to the Sea and actually... I feel as if it was a part of me.
At 18 I had to move to Paris for my studies. Paris is a beautiful city, I can't say it's not but... I study ecology and I was born in the country so I wasn't that keen on living in big cities like Paris. Anyway. I missed the Ocean so much that I decided to specialize into Marine Biology !
I have a French MSc. Ecology and I worked in Darwin, Australia in 2007. I started as a simple intern (6 month internship to complete my French degree), then the lab offered me a job for a few months (as a project officer). Now, my "ex" supervisors wish they could keep me for a PhD in the years to come... Fingers crossed !
I am now in New Zealand for a year (2008) and work in Leigh Marine Laboratory while I try to figure out my projects for the future : PhD ? Research ? Work ? Something else ? Something is sure : it will be in Australia.
I like my job, I like research, I like applied conservation ecology but sometimes it's just too hard for me to stay motivated a long time for the same thing... I tried to figure it out and finally got the answer : I'm so curious and I enjoy discovering and doing so many things that I can't say "ok that's my stuff, I keep on going this way for the rest of my life".
Some things won't change anymore (MEL = Ocean, watersports, Xtreme sports, art and rock music), but new things are calling me every single day ! I want to try everything, I want to know something about everything.
That's me. If you can't understand this, you won't understand my universe.
I hope you will enjoy it !
