Ms Muse [freelance writer]'s Interests
General
I have a fascination with fashion, particularly African and Arab influenced. Although I seem to stand completely outside of it, would someone like to upgrade my wardrobe?
Music
Sister has soul and I revel in it. From Donnie McClurkin to Jill Scott, Kirk Franklin to Mos Def, if I feel it...
If it creeps up under my skin, sits in a canoe that rides my blood stream and takes residence in my heart, if it is real...THEN IT IS ME.
Movies
Soon come
Television
I love that in
the positions of authority are assumed by black people
.
It also pleases me that we finally get to see Taye Diggs in a sitcom where he is with a black woman, a positive image for our screens
Books
During 2008 I shall be extending this list. Books by me. Hehe. Toni Morrison, Monica Ali, Chinua Achebe, Francine Rivers to name a few authors. The classics, Jane Austen, Felicia Hemans, Coleridge. The cultured, Michael Eric Dyson, Courtia Newland and many more.

FEMINIST
Writers MUST read
Fact. I love Jesus. Fact. I try to live by Biblical principles. Fact. Reading the Bible will change your life; how depends on you.
Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for Literature, Chinua Achebe is an absolute pleasure to read. It is important that young black writers see that our culture and history, our creativity even, is to be honoured, respected and celebrated. ‘Things Fall Apart’ is a brilliantly interwoven story that bridges the gap between our past and present, stripping naked the continuous inner struggle of black (wo)men, and the white Europeans’ role within it all.
I READ
For news, health, fashion, music and all things relevant to a (Black) Woman.
2008 is an important year for me, keep an eye out for my many ventures involving magazines/newspapers and eventually a published short story. Also expect to see me at a number of upcoming shows and events, I am hoping to get back into the Performance Poetry circuit.
I am working on a collection of article on women's issues
Publishers, writers (all forms inclusive), musicians, actors, singers, my poetical muse, and ultimately YOU.
I've been looking for you...
Intellectuals. Community Activists, Politicians, Critical thinkers. Social Researchers, Volunteers. Those people in our society who are central to our civilisation, those who concern themselves with the future, so that others can continue to occupy the ‘now’. Visionaries. I love the idea of The Black Nerds Network. www.myspace.com/theblacknerdsnetwork
The Funky Fresh, Artistically off-beat. Bold and bashful, Proud in their skin, Diversity Celebrating, God recognising individual. Your inherent creativity inspires me. Go ahead. Be You!
The Ying to my Yang, with smiling eyes and serious mouth. A good fit like Ikea slippers, comfort like childhood friendship. Should feel something like playing the first key on a grand piano and wondering ‘how did I afford this?’ Silver linings around grey clouds (do they exist?) The jerk for my chicken, the satisfying burn of sorrel (aint had that in a minute). It will feel like you...and I will know when I meet you.
Take caution when adding me! I have no desire to be affiliated with misogyny, gangster rap, heavy metal, satan worshipers (don't even let me get started!), those with a bitter and cynical tongue and a whole host of other ills. Yes I hear you, this is myspace, you are right, this is MY SPACE. Don't bring any funky vibes up in here, thank you for respecting the house rules.
I write for African Echo Newspaper
