   About Matthew Francis Andersen

Matthew Francis Andersen is happy being a writer. “I never really wanted to make my guitar scream or become popular. I have songs and I simply like sharing them. Some songs rock harder than others and some are slow ballads. But the fact that I’ve gotten positive responses to my songs is just icing on the cake.”

As a boy Matthew enjoyed sitting in his bedroom listening to records and envisioning the stories of various characters. After growing up in Chicago’s Irish-Catholic west side and spending a time in northern Wisconsin as a musky and walleye guide, Matthew now has plenty of his own characters to write about.

Some songs appearing here were recorded in Austin, TX with players such as Mac McNabb (credits include Trish Murphy and Michael Fracasso), Gary Hermann (Joe Ely), and Ian Bailey.

Expect new material in the second half of ’08.

Hey Matthew, thanks for the invite. Some good stuff here -- I laughed out loud when I heard the first verse on "The Devil Lives In Kansas" -- very clever lyric. (I did a tune called "Seven Deadly Sins" that I'll have to send to you -- very similar idea. I bet you'd like it.) I also like the feel on "End Of The Line". For such a simple recording it came out really well. Good stuff Matthew. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

The discourse on peace

Near the end of an extremely important discourse
the great man of state building
on a beautiful hollow phrase
falls over it
and undone with gaping mouth
gasping
shows his teeth
and the dental decay of his peaceful reasoning
exposes the nerve of war
the delicate question of money.

Jacques Prévert - Paroles

Bon weekend Matthew and friends !
